This past week, the VTuber talent agency VShojo, which prides itself on prioritizing talent, faced criticism when one of its top talents, Ironmouse, accused the company of not paying her a substantial amount of money and failing to donate over half a million dollars she had raised for the Immune Deficiency Foundation. Since then, many of VShojo’s talents have left, leaving no VTuber with the agency. Now, the CEO has acknowledged that they used those funds in an attempt to keep the company running.
On July 24th, Justin Ignacio, CEO of VShojo X, openly acknowledged that he had mishandled the company’s financial affairs, leading to the current predicament everyone is observing. Ignacio disclosed that VShojo has been grappling with financial hardships over the past few months. Despite securing approximately $11 million to adopt a strategy focusing on talent, the company ultimately exhausted its funds.
Ignacio revealed that some of this money was associated with talent-related activities, but later discovered it was earmarked for a charitable cause. He explained that they were striving to secure additional investment capital to meet their expenses, and he firmly believed, based on the information available at the time, that they would be successful in raising these funds. However, their fundraising endeavors proved unsuccessful.

It appears that users on X have brought up multiple instances where Ignacio recognized Ironmouse’s charity streams in the past. They claim that he wasn’t unaware of this fact later on during VShojo’s difficulties, but instead knew about it throughout. As a reaction to these allegations, Twitch has taken down the “GunRun” global emote, which was initially dedicated to Ignacio.
Following Ignacio’s confirmation that VShojo is closing, some ex-talents view this as an opportunity to assert that the non-disclosure agreements they previously signed may no longer be binding. Various VTubers have come forward, accusing the company of having exploitative contracts, and demanding that they receive overdue merchandise and sponsorship payments dating back years.
Following the realization that the funds she gathered weren’t contributed to the Immune Deficiency Foundation, Ironmouse initiated her personal Tiltify fundraising campaign to support the charity. Currently, this campaign has exceeded $1.25 million in donations within a span of merely three days.
