Many players don’t understand this high risk, high reward mechanic in Wuchang. If used well, you may be unstoppable

Though Wuchang Fallen Feathers initially faced some technical difficulties upon release, it continues to draw crowds who are eager to play it, and for valid reasons. Despite its initial hiccups, the game boasts a variety of intriguing mechanics that make it worth exploring. One such mechanic is Madness, which presents a high-risk, high-reward scenario. If you’re curious about what this state entails, how to attain it, or how to eliminate it, our guide will provide the answers.

How Madness works in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

Madness can be likened to a two-sided coin – it comes with its advantages and disadvantages. As the intensity increases, you deal greater harm to your opponents. However, they too become more formidable in their counterattacks. The concerning aspect is that when this state reaches maximum, there’s a high probability of facing an internal adversary, much like Wuchang, who indiscriminately attacks everything in sight. If you meet your demise while at full Madness and the Inner Demon emerges, you stand to lose all your Red Mercury Essence.

Wuchang can gain Madness in 3 ways:

  1. By purchasing items from the Invoke menu – you will unlock this option fairly soon into the game. While resting at the shrine, you can purchase various items to increase your Madness level.
  2. By killing human opponents – you will encounter many human-type opponents in the game, usually in the form of bandits. Although they are a threat to you, killing them will increase your Madness level.
  3. By dying – each death also increases Madness.

It’s important to keep in mind that several skills from the skill tree provide substantial boosts when your Madness level exceeds 50% or reaches 90%. Utilizing these advantages seems beneficial.

How to cleanse Madness in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

If you prefer not to endure further harm, there are actually various methods available for alleviating this situation.

  1. Offerings – there is a sculpture on the upper floor of Lightzen Temple (you can see it on the picture above). By interacting with it, you can offer a Divine Gift to get rid of all Madness, or a Fragment of the Divine Gift to get rid of a certain part of it.
  2. Defeating Inner Demon – defeating this opponent when your Madness is at 100% will reduce this condition to 0.
  3. Defeating Feathered Enemies – clearing the location of enemies affected by this disease will cause your Madness to slowly decrease.
