Blade Release Date Estimate, News & Updates

Discussions surrounding the release date of The Blade film have been ongoing for quite some time now. Initially announced in 2019 with Mahershala Ali taking on the title role, the production has encountered various development hurdles. These setbacks include the exits of several writers and changes in directors. Consequently, the movie was taken off the schedule that had previously planned its release for October 2024. Ali made a brief appearance in the post-credits sequence of the 2021 film Eternals, leaving fans excited for his full Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.

So, what is Blade’s release date estimate? Here’s what we have learned.

What is the Blade release date estimate?

The tentative launch date for Blade is set for the year 2027, as there’s an open slot in that year for a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project without a title.

The movie is currently being developed, as Kevin Feige himself confirmed during a recent press conference held at Marvel’s office in Burbank.

Alternatively, if Blade doesn’t get the 2027 release, the film might premiere in 2028.

Blade news and updates

The most recent update about Blade comes from Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige.

During a chat at Marvel’s headquarters in Burbank with the media, Feige shared that they were working on four different iterations of the project. Out of these, two were historical settings – taking place in the 1930s. However, they chose to establish the movie in contemporary times instead. As the MCU mastermind put it, “We’ve settled on modern times as our focus.

In my critique, I must acknowledge that Kevin Feige elucidated the multifarious hurdles in bringing Blade to life. He candidly admitted, “I wasn’t keen on donning a leather ensemble for [Ali] and engaging in bloodsucking vampire slaying.

He expanded on his statement, pointing out that in most cases, “they can initiate and write a decent script, then turn it into an outstanding one during production.” Yet, they weren’t comfortable with implementing this strategy for Blade. “We didn’t want to subject Mahershala to that experience, nor did we want to put ourselves through it,” Feige concluded.

As of now, the storyline for the movie Blade remains unclear since it’s still under production. Mahershala Ali is likely to take on the title character, while Mia Goth continues to be associated with the role of Lilith. Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre were initially involved in the project but departed in 2024.
