In the comic series “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the story unfolds on a different planet, Earth-828, thus excluding any familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe characters from making an appearance. However, dedicated fans may catch a glimpse of four characters who make brief appearances, though their likeness might not be immediately recognizable to casual readers.
In a universe distinct from the one seen in past Marvel films, the story of Fantastic Four: First Steps unfolds.
In this world, we find ourselves in a blend of past and future, where the Fantastic Four are the sole super-powered entities on the planet. They encounter their most formidable test in First Steps, as Galactus, boasting divine powers, arrives with an intent to consume our Earth.
In this film, there’s no overlap with other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, as that’s reserved for the 2026 release of Avengers: Doomsday. However, if you pay close attention, you’ll spot actors from the Fantastic Four’s past history scattered throughout the movie.
Old Fantastic Four actors appear in the new movie
In the ’90s, Roger Corman produced a Fantastic Four film that was never released. This unseen movie is the subject of our article, revealing the untold story behind Marvel’s seemingly forgotten production. The people involved in the project all seem to have different explanations as to why the film remains buried.
However, it’s evident that the actors portraying Marvel’s original family weren’t aware of the fate awaiting their performances, which gave the story of the first Fantastic Four an unfortunate and poignant twist.
However, despite the initially tragic tale, this week brought a joyful update! In the sequel, First Steps, each member of the quartet unexpectedly appeared. Let me share their roles from the original production, as well as their surprising appearances in the latest film.
In the 1994 movie, Alex Hyde-White portrayed Reed Richards, while in the latest film, he takes on the role of ABC news anchor William Russell, who shares the birth of Fantastic baby Franklin with the world. Previously, Rebecca Stab played Sue Storm, and here she transforms into Channel 9 newscaster Carolyn Haynes.

Previously, Jay Underwood portrayed Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), while Michael Bailey Smith played Ben Grimm. In the beginning of “First Steps,” they take on roles as power plant employees who greet the Human Torch at an early stage.
Despite having to postpone the release of their film F4 at an earlier time, all four actors graced the red carpet at the First Steps premiere just a few days ago, as evidenced by the smiles radiating from them in the photo up top.
The Fantastic Four is currently playing in UK theaters and will be available in US cinemas starting tomorrow. If you’re looking for more action with the F4, discover why the story takes place on Earth-828, when to take a quick break during the movie, learn about the inspiration behind First Steps, and find out where to get the exclusive Fantastic Four popcorn buckets.
