As a developer working on EA SPORTS Football Club 26, I wanted to address some recent speculation about the number of promotions in Ultimate Team. While we understand that players enjoy the variety that these events bring, it’s important for us to strike a balance between providing fresh content and maintaining game stability. So, rest assured, while there may be adjustments, we’re committed to keeping Ultimate Team exciting and engaging for you, our dedicated community of gamers.
At this time on the calendar, it’s when Electronic Arts (EA) unveils the upcoming edition of their EA SPORTS Football Club (FC) series. Previously known as FIFA developers, EA has announced that EA FC 26 will be the most community-influenced game to date, introducing significant changes that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Of course, there’s been plenty of speculation and sneak peeks regarding their potential plans too. A hot topic among discussions has been about the possibility of weekly promotions.
It’s been suggested that Electronic Arts Football Club 26 may offer fewer promotions compared to previous versions, given that pre-orders come with untradeable ICONs and 93+ rated player selections. But fear not, fans! This doesn’t necessarily mean a less enjoyable gaming experience.
EA FC dev addresses FUT promo calendar
Jamey Cane, a Senior Product Manager at EA Sports FC, has provided further explanation. In his statement, when he mentioned adjusting the power curve, it’s to ensure items remain useful for a longer period. For instance, Gold cards lasting more, new releases not making your current team obsolete as swiftly, and so on. However, this doesn’t suggest a decrease in promotions, according to his post on X.
As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share that our weekly team updates are here to stay! And, let me tell you, we’re moving forward by leaving behind those massive, high-intensity promotions from before.
We’ll continue with our exciting, high-impact promotions (and they’re quite enjoyable!), but when every promotion is exceptional, none truly stand out. This has been evident in the feedback we’ve received this year,” he pointed out.
Moving forward, our strategy remains focused on issuing new squad releases every week. Essentially, we’re talking about weekly updates or promotions. We notice that players tend to lose interest if we don’t provide these regularly.
However, an important modification for this year is that the average stat boost of the new items compared to existing ones will be slightly smaller in size.

In simpler terms, Cane mentioned that we’re adjusting the speed to resemble FIFA 23 or 24, which is slower than FIFA 25 but not as slow as the pace seen in FIFA 15. He concluded his discussion with this statement.
To put it simply, we’re adjusting the speed to resemble more of FIFA 23 or 24, which is noticeably slower compared to FIFA 25. However, we’re not planning on making it as slow as FIFA 15 was.

Some individuals expressed worry that FIFA 23 and FC 24 serve as foundations, but others are content since the promotions will carry on regardless.
