As a dedicated gamer diving into the latest update for Persona 5: The Phantom X, version 1.2, I’m excited about the insights shared by Sega’s Yuta Sakai on the modifications they’re implementing in both Japanese and English versions compared to earlier Chinese and East Asian releases. One of the hot topics among us gamers is Sega’s decision to adjust the arrival times of characters on the permanent standard gacha banner, syncing them with upcoming half-anniversaries.
To clarify, previous versions have moved characters who initially appeared on special gacha banners to the regular roster, including Minami “Marian” Miyashita. On the Chinese server, she was immediately included in the regular roster once her limited-time banner ended. Yet, this practice won’t be followed for newer releases in Japanese and English servers.
In the previous Ver1.1 stream, it was mentioned that Marian wouldn’t be part of the regular banner group right away following the end of her limited banner on July 24. The team didn’t give a specific timeline for when she would be added. Today, in the latest stream, Sakai clarified that characters will only be added to the standard banner after about six months, usually during significant milestones like the game’s half-anniversaries.
In both the English and Japanese broadcasts, Yuta Sakai provided explanations. However, it was observed that Sakai made distinct comments in the Japanese feed which were not present in the English subtitles.
35 mark: This is what we understand from the original Japanese broadcast.
Initially, regarding the characters being added in the upcoming Star 5 version, we aimed to ensure that each character has a shining moment within a certain period, and to minimize differences between characters. In light of this, for the Monster Draft event, we decided to bring these additions as a special commemoration, thereby slightly altering the timing.
こちらに関しては、説明が不足していたことと、改めて今回説明をさせていただきましたが、ご説明が遅くなり大変申し訳ございません。
Instead of saying that the timing for actual acquisition will not be until half a year later or more, I would like to inform you that we are preparing for future restocking. So, for future reference, we will notify you when it becomes available.
And here is our translation of the excerpt:
Next up is information regarding the Phantom Idol Draft.
We have also received various opinions regarding the Phantom Idol Draft that uses Gold Tickets.
In the previous Chinese and Asian adaptations, characters from exclusive draws called “Limited Pick-Ups” reappeared later in the “Gold Ticket Phantom Idol Draft.” We’ll explain how these timelines are going to be modified.
We intend to introduce new characters to the Phantom Idol Draft in both the Japanese and English versions approximately six months from now or later, possibly coinciding with special events or half-year anniversaries.
Now we would like to explain our current policy in this handling change.
In future updates, instead of having random intervals, we plan to allocate special spotlights for newly introduced 5-star characters like Joker, YUI, and Minami, aiming to minimize gaps between their appearances. For this particular update, we are adjusting the schedule to introduce these characters in a celebratory manner.
I’m truly sorry for the delay in clarification and for not providing a comprehensive explanation earlier. Let me make things clear now.
There won’t be immediate availability for some time, but we have plans for additional opportunities to acquire them, possibly through future restockings or reruns. We kindly ask for your patience and look forward to providing updates on these items when they become available.
the single stamina-recovering Coffee Aid item will no longer be available. So while we’ll be receiving more jewels, we’ll have to find alternative ways to recover our stamina. Regardless, I’m looking forward to these changes and can’t wait to see what else Sega has in store for us!
On July 24th, both the Japanese and international versions of Persona 5: The Phantom X will undergo maintenance to install Update Version 1.2. This update mainly introduces a special limited banner for Yusuke “Fox” Kitagawa and a new chapter modeled after the second palace from the original Persona 5. The Southeast Asian version, which received the last update eight days later, is anticipated to receive this version on August 1st.
