Recently, Cyberpunk 2077 received another update, introducing new missions, vehicles, and autopilot. Yet, this isn’t enough for a significant portion of the game’s enthusiasts. One of them inquired if CD Projekt Red might consider incorporating a third-person perspective in future updates. However, the studio from Poland has no such plans on the horizon.
It’s no wonder that the response was predictable, especially for those who have kept tabs on developers’ announcements for a long time about Cyberpunk 2077. From the beginning, the game was designed to be an engaging first-person experience, leading the studio to concentrate on mechanics that reinforced this concept. Nevertheless, the lack of a third-person view shortly after its debut sparked fans to craft their own mods providing this perspective.
Following the recent update and another critical remark from developers regarding the First-Person Perspective (FPP) view, someone shared a video demonstrating one such mod. Since yesterday, this modification has been gaining traction on Reddit, albeit without winning the community’s wholehearted approval.
Despite the topic’s title, “An extraordinary view of the world from a fresh angle,” focusing on an incredible experience, the content primarily displays underdeveloped animation sequences concentrating predominantly on the character’s movements. Here, have a look!
The video might be enjoyable, yet the widespread appeal of mods such as JB – TPP MOD WIP third person (with approximately 450 thousand downloads from NexusMods) indicates that many gamers are keen on experiencing Cyberpunk 2077 in a third-person perspective. Despite the studio having plans for something unique to celebrate the game’s 5th anniversary, I doubt they will cater to fans’ specific requests regarding the gameplay mode.
In a sequel, the circumstances might be adjusted to accommodate changes. For instance, CD Projekt Red could take the community’s preferences into account and allow for camera adjustment not just during vehicle rides. This feature has been implemented effectively in games like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Ubisoft is also planning to incorporate it in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
