Kevin Feige has shared an update regarding the X-Men MCU movie.
Presently, Marvel Studios is developing a film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe that will be released following Avengers: Endgame (in production) and Avengers: Secret Wars. These two Avengers films are helmed by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, often referred to as the Russo Brothers.
According to a report from Deadline in May, Jake Schreier, the director of the Thunderbolts, emerged as the front runner for the position of director for the upcoming X-Men movie.
What did Kevin Feige say about the X-Men MCU movie?
Per ComicBook, Feige confirmed that Schreier will indeed be directing X-Men.
It’s confirmed! Jake Schreier is working on the X-Men project for us, and we couldn’t be happier about it. We feel incredibly fortunate to have him on board and are eagerly anticipating the start of this exciting journey. The script is currently being written, marking the beginning of this new chapter.
Jake is not only exceptionally intelligent but also incredibly skilled as a filmmaker. Working with him on Thunderbolts* was a fantastic experience. If you watched that movie, you’d appreciate how skillfully he handled the character interactions. Moreover, Jake has an intuitive understanding of younger audiences, which I believe was crucial for both Thunderbolts* and X-Men, especially since X-Men is planned to be more youth-focused, geared towards a younger cast.
For now, specifics about the plot of the upcoming X-Men film from Marvel are kept secret. Yet, rest assured, the storyline will offer a fresh and unique take on the X-Men universe for fans to enjoy.
A great deal has been accomplished, but considering it’s the X-Men, with its rich comics history, there’s a wealth of material yet to explore. There are numerous stories within stories for the X-Men, which is part of what we’re discussing now – deciding which saga to expand and develop while also ensuring that each character receives their appropriate introduction in our initial film.
