At the heart of traditional gaming events, the annual gamescom fair remains a notable exception. Although digital presentations by leading publishers like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo have gained traction (such as PlayStation Showcase, Xbox Games Showcase, or Nintendo Direct), the organizers of gamescom 2025 have continued to pour resources into ensuring that the event in Cologne shines brighter than ever – this year’s installment promises to be the largest yet on record.
At gamescom 2025, a significant increase in exhibitors is expected compared to the previous year’s event (gamescom 2024). In fact, there will be around 11% more exhibitors present this time. Some notable companies that will be participating include Bethesda, Capcom, CD Projekt Red, CI Games, Electronic Arts, Konami, Nintendo, and Ubisoft.
Because of the growing enthusiasm, the area hosting the fair is going to be enlarged as well. For instance, an extra hall may be added to the “entertainment zone”. The organizers of the event are quite thrilled and they’re discussing the idea of “raising the bar” with this year’s gamescom.
The numbers tell their own story. Gamescom 2025 is poised to be larger, more exhilarating, and once again the pulse of the worldwide gaming community. In unison with the industry and powerful allies, we are prepared to enthrall fans and establish new benchmarks – this was stated by Tim Endres, Director of gamescom.
As per tradition, the live broadcast of the trade fair’s opening in Germany, known as Opening Night Live, is set to begin on Tuesday, August 19, at 10:30 am Pacific Time. Similar to last year, the event will be hosted by Eefje “sjokz” Depoortere and Geoff Keighley. The primary event spans from August 20 to August 24.
It has been verified that Activision is set to participate in ONL 2025, where they plan to exhibit the forthcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
