Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed TV Series Moves Ahead With Halo, Sons Of Anarchy Veterans

Almost five years after it was announced, Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed TV series is now moving ahead.

Netflix has formally approved the production of the show, with Robert Patino (known for Westworld and Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (recognized for Halo and The Killing) confirmed as the creators, lead writers, and executive producers. In 2023, the original showrunner, Jeb Stuart, left the project due to a disagreement on creative direction.

Assassin’s Creed is a fast-paced TV show that focuses on the clandestine conflict between two groups: one aiming to control and manipulate human fate, while another strives to protect free will. The narrative journeys through crucial historical periods, where characters engage in a struggle to influence mankind’s destiny.

In a shared statement, Wiener and Patino expressed their long-standing admiration for the Assassin’s Creed series since its introduction in 2007. They also conveyed their feelings of excitement and humility regarding the opportunities that the Assassin’s Creed franchise presents to them.

At its core, beyond the excitement, acrobatics, and action lies a fundamental human narrative – one that explores individuals seeking meaning, grappling with issues of self, fate, and belief. It delves into themes such as power, conflict, love, greed, and revenge. However, above all else, this production emphasizes the importance of human relationships, transcending boundaries of culture and time.

The Assassin’s Creed TV series is still in its infancy, with no news about the actors involved or a potential release date as of now.

In the past, I was thrilled to see the 2016 live-action Assassin’s Creed movie, produced by 20th Century Fox, gracing the big screen. Starring Michael Fassbender, this film raked in over $240 million globally.

Beyond the recently announced live-action series, Netflix is also working on an animated adaptation of Assassin’s Creed. Meanwhile, Ubisoft is creating a brand new Assassin’s Creed video game specifically for Netflix’s gaming platform.
