McDonald’s has introduced a larger-than-ever version of their famous fries, dubbed the XXL, which is even bigger than the previous super-sized ones.
McDonald’s recently introduced an enormous new serving size for their fries, so large that it dwarfs the once popular Supersize option, which seems minuscule in comparison. However, this mammoth-sized fry option is currently accessible only in Malaysia, and it’s available for a brief period.
In commemoration of International French Fry Day falling on July 11th, McDonald’s Malaysia introduced the Fan Fries Meal, offering an exceptionally large serving of fries almost resembling a hill of potatoes.
The launch was set against the lively backdrop of Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Bintang district, with enormous digital billboards displaying gigantic fries and staff distributing trays of crispy, deep-fried treats to fortunate spectators in the vicinity of the monorail station.

McDonald’s Malaysia doubles down on fries
Chin Mei Lee, the Marketing Chief of McDonald’s Malaysia, shared that they understand Malaysians can’t get enough of their fries – they just can’t seem to have enough! This enthusiasm is what sparked the creation of the McDonald’s Fan Fries Meal.
Our goal was to design an experience that would be unforgettable and foster connections among people, centered around something irresistible to all. Whether you’re sharing it with friends or loved ones, the McDonald’s Fan Fries Meal is our gesture of appreciation and a celebration of those precious moments we spend together.
For approximately $2.34 USD, this meal comes complete with generous helpings of large fries, a miniature beverage, and an additional side – just in case the regular fries accompanied by extra fries weren’t satisfying enough for you.
McDonald’s has launched an XXL shareable version of their fries called “Fans Fries” in Malaysia

Unfortunately, this extra-large snack was exclusively offered until July 13, which meant that fans residing outside of Malaysia couldn’t enjoy it at all. This could mean we have to wait an entire year before it returns, fingers crossed that next time they expand the availability to more countries worldwide.
However, the competition in offering larger French fries doesn’t end there. This year, McDonald’s Japan unveiled a “Grand” size fry, which is even larger than what we typically consider a large portion. This move has sparked speculation that the brand could be considering expanding their larger portions on a global scale.
Until then, XXL fries remain a Malaysian exclusive… and Supersize looks like a joke in comparison.
