Jake Paul camp bites back at claim of boxing title fight being ‘blocked’

Jake Paul’s team has responded following allegations that he was barred from competing in a professional boxing championship match.

Following his defeat at the hands of Tommy Fury in 2023, Jake Paul adjusted the trajectory of his boxing journey. Instead of facing crossover fighters, this internet sensation began squaring off against seasoned boxers boasting decades of experience.

In the course of that period, he amassed several notable victories, overcoming opponents like Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Mike Tyson, and more recently, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Winning against Chavez Jr, the previous WBC Middleweight titleholder, earned Jake a world ranking from the WBA. So long as he maintains this ranking, he becomes eligible to challenge for titles within the Cruiserweight division.

Jake Paul reportedly ‘blocked’ from title fight

Before squaring off against the previous world titleholder, I’d shared that discussions were underway regarding a potential match with Badou Jack, the present WBC Cruiserweight titlist, in the near future.

don King, a well-known yet controversial boxing promoter, asserted that Jake allegedly requested his combatant, Noel Mikaelian, to relinquish his chance to fight Jack. Instead, Jake was said to have taken the opportunity, stepping into the role previously held by Mikaelian.

Instead, Jake’s team has refuted this assertion. “Just another false claim by Don King,” stated Nakisa Bidarian on platform X (previously known as Twitter). “To clarify, there have been no talks whatsoever with Don King, Team Noel, or anyone else about stepping aside.

Don King’s claim is clearly fabricated, as there has been no dialogue whatsoever with Don himself, Team Noel, or any other parties about stepping aside.

Jake hasn’t spoken up about the allegations personally yet, instead allowing his team to respond. But given his character, it won’t be long before he breaks his silence. That’s simply how he operates.

The ‘Troublesome One’ has previously discussed some significant altercations, particularly with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. For quite some time now, he’s been maneuvering towards a title match, which doesn’t seem entirely far-fetched.

It remains to be seen if he’ll make it happen, however.
