Pokemon Happy Meals returning at McDonald’s with an exclusive card

McDonald’s recently unveiled a special offer on their Happy Meals, where enthusiasts can obtain an exceptional Pikachu collectible card.

When it comes to their popular Trading Card Game (TCG) franchise, The Pokemon Company doesn’t hesitate to collaborate with other companies. Throughout the years, they have formed numerous partnerships with diverse brands, including computer and gaming accessories, as well as food items like those from Hershey’s and McDonald’s.

This year, the popular Pokemon cards returned in McDonald’s Happy Meals, offering Dragon-type monsters for enthusiasts to gather.

The same offer is returning soon, but with a special twist! This round includes a unique Pikachu promotional card and reprints, all of which can only be found in Japan.

McDonald’s Japan announces limited-time Pokemon promo cards

Starting from August 9, 2022, limited-time Happy Meal promotional cards will be handed out at McDonald’s Japan. Keep in mind that these cards won’t last forever; they’ll only be accessible until August 11, 2025.

During this promotion, a unique, never-before-seen Pikachu promotional card showcasing art of the Electric-type Pokemon ready to chow down on a burger is certain to be a standout attraction.

In this event, enthusiasts stand a chance to grab both a unique Pikachu card and an additional promotional card such as Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Ralts, or Riolu at random.

Here, only Pikachu has a fresh artwork in this collection, whereas the remaining cards drawn are reproductions from previous series.

No matter which one you choose, they all share a common feature – a McDonald’s logo at the lower right corner of the design, indicating their scarcity.

Beyond what’s already mentioned, the McDonald’s Japan account on X platform has hinted at an exciting addition – Pokémon toys coming with their Happy Meals!

At the time of writing, it’s unknown whether these will make it to the West.

Scarce merchandise and collectible cards often become targets for resellers, who typically sell them at high markups on the internet. The merchandise from the Van Gogh Museum serves as a notable illustration of this problem.
