Switch 2 Update Is Out Now, Here’s What It Fixes And Improves

The latest update for the Nintendo Switch 2, version 20.2.0, was released on July 14. This update addressed a problem with the game’s parental controls settings and another issue related to the internet.

The latest update for the new Nintendo Switch 2 clarifies an issue where parental controls settings might not have carried over from the original Switch during a system transfer. Additionally, some players had trouble progressing past the “Searching for networks” screen online, but this problem should now be resolved with the update. Lastly, the update also includes general improvements to the system’s stability, although Nintendo didn’t offer any additional details on what exactly those enhancements entail.

Data mining specialist Oatmealdome discovered some extra enhancements upon the update, notably addressing issues related to backward compatibility for Switch 1 games. Particularly, it’s been optimized so that Portal 2 performs more smoothly on Switch 2.

On July 14th, the third major software update for the Nintendo Switch 2 was released, making it only the third time since the console debuted in early June that an update has been issued. The initial launch saw a day-one update with numerous features, followed by another on June 18th focusing on system stability enhancements. This latest update comes just before Nintendo’s upcoming release of Donkey Kong Bananza, slated for July 17th.

The PS5 also just received a new update recently, but it doesn’t do much.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation – every day seems to bring us one step closer to the next Nintendo Direct. Yet, Nintendo remains tight-lipped about any official announcements regarding its arrival.
