Kira Cousins controversy explained: Woman accused of faking pregnancy with doll before claiming baby “died”

Kira Cousins is facing online accusations of falsely claiming to be pregnant and giving birth. She allegedly used a realistic doll and presented it as her baby on social media, leading to a widespread backlash.

The controversy started in early October when people on Facebook began accusing Cousins of faking her pregnancy. These accusations included claims that she had a gender reveal party, received baby gifts, and told loved ones she’d already had a baby girl named Bonnie-Leigh.

A friend of Kira Mcrobert, Neave, stated that Kira received many gifts for her supposed baby. No one ever questioned whether she was actually pregnant or being dishonest.

McRobert explained that she noticed the mother wouldn’t allow anyone to hold the baby, not even him, while she was visiting his home. They initially assumed she was simply being very protective.

Cousins shared posts on Facebook, which have since gone viral, claiming she had given birth. These posts included pictures of a baby doll – dressed and placed in a car seat and bouncer – presented as her newborn. One post detailed the ‘birth’ as occurring on October 10, 2025, at 2:46 am, with a weight of 5 pounds 4 ounces. Another showed the doll bundled in blankets, captioned as ‘equally as cute.’

In later posts, Cousins, who is believed to be from Airdrie, Scotland (near Glasgow), shared that her “daughter” had been diagnosed with heart problems at birth and was receiving specialized medical attention.

“Baby” suffers illness and “dies”

I was so worried to read the news – it turns out their little one has a heart condition called an atrioventricular septal defect and will need surgery. They thanked the midwives and sonographers who helped, and asked everyone to please give them and their family some space and privacy right now. It’s a really tough time, and they deserve that.

Online, screenshots of messages reportedly from Cousins to the child’s father were circulated. In these messages, she first indicated that “something happened to Bonnie-Leigh,” and later confirmed that “Bonnie-Leigh died.” The father responded with confusion, saying he needed answers and felt he’d been kept in the dark for too long.

Additional screenshots revealed her reacting to criticism after family members allegedly expressed their concerns. In a post, she stated this would be her final comment on the matter, emphasizing that it concerned her and her daughter’s personal life and asking people not to judge her without knowing the full story.

She later admitted her family found out the truth. She explained that her mother discovered it was a doll and then had a serious conversation with her about what happened earlier in her pregnancy.

Claims have quickly circulated on Facebook and TikTok, with many users sharing messages and screenshots to support them. As of now, local authorities haven’t released any statement or confirmed whether they are investigating.
