After several months of trying, popular streamer Ludwig has successfully caught the notice of Los Angeles Lakers player Luka Doncic following his persistent attempts to reach out to the NBA superstar.
Ludwig Ahgren is preparing for his Basketball Jam occasion scheduled for July 12, during which he and various prominent streamers will demonstrate their basketball talents in a highly-anticipated event attended by thousands of spectators, both virtually and physically.
To build up excitement for the event, Ludwig aimed to reach out to Luka Doncic, who is a Slovenian basketball star now playing for the LA Lakers.
Although Doncic’s team stated that he wouldn’t be able to make it, Ludwig was taken aback by the video that Luka personally sent him instead.

Within just a few hours, the short 14-second video has exploded in popularity, often humorously shared as a meme. This widespread fame is primarily attributed to Luka’s unusual explanation for his absence and his request to meet up at a later time, which many found awkwardly endearing.

I reached out to a member of Luka’s team to inquire about his availability for my Saturday basketball event, and they informed me that he is unavailable due to being occupied. However, they also shared with me an extraordinary video which has left a lasting impression on me.

People online are playfully suggesting that they’ll share a video link with their friends as an excuse to get out of social engagements, creating a comical blend of the realms of video streaming and professional basketball.
Funny enough, Ludwig has been trying to reach Doncic for quite some time. Although he had mentioned the player during live streams earlier, it wasn’t until he shared a widely-circulated tweet following Luka’s signing with the Lakers in February 2025 that things took a turn.

He consistently attempted to establish a bond with the professional, expressing his feelings through a tweet: “Attending the Lakers game. I secretly believe that me and Luka could be friends, there’s an unspoken connection developing between us.
In a playful manner during a Twitch stream in March, Lud remarked, “If I and Luka were to enter a room together, we would be two young men.” He humorously referred to themselves as “two energetic, middle-aged gentlemen.
Although he managed to meet Luka Doncic during a Lakers game he attended in February, he’s persisted in trying to connect with him further. Now, he can genuinely claim they share a friendly relationship.
