In his own words on social media before his upcoming hearing, Ethan Guo, the young 19-year-old pilot, has decided to speak out regarding the unauthorized flight he took to Antarctica that led to his detention.
Over the past six months, Ethan Guo has embarked on a solo journey around the globe, aiming to set a record as the youngest pilot to traverse all seven continents.
The 19-year-old, participating in a solo fundraising effort for St Jude’s, found himself under Chilean police custody following an unsanctioned flight to Antarctica. Originally, Guo had filed a flight plan outlining a route around Punta Arenas, but he veered off course, eventually touching down on Chilean territory in Antarctica.
As a dedicated admirer speaking from my perspective, I can share that, during a flight, I encountered unexpected complications, leading me to make an unscheduled landing at Teniente Marsh Airfield. This was all part of an investigative flight I was undertaking.
Ethan Guo resurfaces ahead of hearing in Chile
It seems like Guo has been rather quiet on social platforms regarding recent events. There haven’t been any new posts on TikTok or Instagram from him for some time now. Moreover, an account labeled as ‘X’ has appeared under his name, featuring a fresh photo of a plane in Antarctica.
As a gamer, I’ve decided to speak up about my recent situation through some Instagram Stories. I reposted a video that sheds light on what’s been happening, captioning it: “Crucial! Give this a watch. It might not cover everything, but it sets the stage for the predicament at hand. I urge you all to check out the full video. Spread the word. If you can lend a helping hand, don’t hesitate to hit me up in a message.
On July 11, before his upcoming hearing, the 19-year-old reassured everyone by stating: “Fear not for my wellbeing; I’m doing alright. However, do keep lending your support and making donations towards the worldwide battle against cancer.
He also revealed some of the messages that fans have sent to him during his social media absence.
It’s worth mentioning that Guo has a scheduled hearing in Chile on July 11 to decide on any penalties resulting from an unauthorized flight.
As an aviation enthusiast, I’d like to share that in the U.S., the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) holds the power to penalize pilots with fines up to $100,000 when they breach the Aeronautical Code. If necessary, they can also revoke any permits for such violations.
