According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, Washington D.C. is planning to restart its movie universe, potentially releasing as many as three films per year in theaters. These movies will eventually culminate in a fresh Justice League production.
As Superman prepares to make his comeback, The Wall Street Journal has delved into the current situation at DC. There’s excitement about potential earnings of half a billion dollars from the new series starring David Corenswet, and rumors of discussions with Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige. There’s a lot to process in this developing story.
The main detail mentioned is a fresh plan for DC’s future roadmap. Just like Marvel’s extensive lineup of content spanning live-action movies and animated TV series, it appears that DC is planning to take a similarly comprehensive approach.
Specifically, it appears that DC is planning to release as many as three films annually – two live-action and one animated – along with several television series. Ultimately, their aim is to unite these various characters in a fresh version of the Justice League.
According to the Wall Street Journal, DC is intending to bring together all their iconic characters from the DC universe in a future ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ film. This plan includes releasing two live-action movies, one animated movie, and numerous TV shows annually.

DC reportedly gearing up for another take on the Justice League
Despite earning an impressive $661.3 million worldwide, the 2017 Justice League movie, directed by Zack Snyder, was still labeled as a commercial disappointment because it failed to cover its reported production costs.
Presently, it seems that under James Gunn’s leadership, DC is reportedly planning a second attempt at creating an ensemble similar to the Avengers.
Following Robert Pattinson’s confirmation as Batman and Michael Corenswet stepping into the role of Robin, these two primary characters are now firmly in place. Next up, Milly Alcock will take the spotlight as Supergirl, with her debut scheduled for June 26, 2026.
In the vast expanse of cinema, characters such as Green Lantern (played by Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrifick (Edi Gathegi), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan), and Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) have graced the big screen. Moreover, Peacemaker, portrayed by John Cena, continues his adventures on the silver screen, with a second season set to premiere on August 21, 2025.
As a die-hard DC fan, I can’t wait to see who else might join the ranks of the Justice League when Gunn is ready to act. The success of the upcoming Superman movie will play a significant role in determining that. We’ll be sure to share any updates as soon as we get some early box office data.
