YouTube initially launched its Trending page back in 2015, and after a decade, they are now phasing out this feature to make way for a fresh, updated system.
YouTube, established in 2005, is a widely frequented online platform for video content, attracting approximately 2.70 billion monthly viewers who engage with various content creators, such as gamers, vloggers sharing daily experiences, and many others.
One method YouTube used to help users discover trending, viral content was by introducing the “Trending” page back in 2015. Clicking on this feature allows users to view the popular videos that are currently attracting the most attention and views across the platform.
Instead, YouTube claims that discovering such content has never been simpler for viewers, as they are phasing out their trending section.

YouTube’s Trending page replaced by YouTube Charts
On July 10, 2025, YouTube revealed plans to launch a novel content-ranking system called Charts, which will be progressively implemented across its platform.
In 2015, when we initially introduced our Trending page, determining ‘What’s popular?’ was relatively straightforward, as it involved compiling a single list of viral videos that were generating widespread discussion. However, the landscape has evolved significantly since then. Today, trends encompass a multitude of videos from various fandoms, and there are an unprecedented number of micro-trends that resonate within diverse communities.
Due to a noticeable decrease in visitor numbers over the past five years on their Trending page, YouTube has decided to alter its structure. From now on, YouTube Charts will divide trending topics into distinct, categorized lists instead of one comprehensive page.

The Trending page will relocate to a new section called “Trending Now,” which displays the site’s most widely-viewed content across all categories. Meanwhile, users now have the ability to explore specific trends in different categories, such as music videos, top podcasts, movie trailers, and more, through the YouTube Charts feature.
For now, YouTube has announced that its Gaming Explore section will showcase popular gaming videos from across the platform, while still providing tailored content to users through suggestions on their individual home feeds.
By adopting this approach, we’re able to present a broader selection of trending content that aligns with user interests, mimicking how viewers typically discover new videos. Users can still access non-personalized content through the Explore section, creator channels, and their Subscription feed.
As a dedicated user, I’ve noticed yet another significant shift on this platform – one that has announced its decision to cease monetization of AI-created or non-unique content.
