After spending four years as a mobile-only game, Blue Archive was recently introduced on Steam. At first glance, it appears that the release has been successful, with over 20,000 players playing simultaneously and receiving around 10,000 reviews on Steam. However, according to a post that has since been removed from Nexon’s forum, the game developer may have encouraged players to write reviews on Valve’s platform during an in-game event, which is not permitted under the guidelines of Steamworks.
As a dedicated gamer diving into the Blue Archive universe, I was thrilled to learn that if we managed to hit 10,000 Steam reviews for the game, each one of us would receive a whopping five Gift Choice Boxes and five stunning Beautiful Bouquets in-game. This exciting event was scheduled from July 4th to the 11th, but it seems like there’s no trace of it now when I boot up Blue Archive. It’s quite peculiar because we have surpassed Nexon’s goal for Steam reviews!
According to a user’s post on Steam forums related to the game, the guidelines provided by Steamworks explicitly prohibit actions such as:
1. Manipulating or abusing the review system in an artificial manner.
2. Requesting reviews in exchange for games, downloadable content (DLC), money, or other rewards.
However, there are some exceptions to this rule, including sending game copies to press members or creators for previews or reviews.
Furthermore, developers should refrain from asking customers to review the game directly within the game itself. TopMob has reached out to Nexon for a response on this matter.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but rave about Blue Archive – a tactical RPG that seamlessly blends gacha mechanics into its gameplay. Essentially, it uses a luck-based system where Pyroxene, the in-game currency, is spent to randomly draw students or characters. Limited recruitment events occasionally boost the chance of acquiring certain anime girls, making players like me eagerly spend more Pyroxene in hopes of adding that special character to our teams.
Currently, Blue Archive isn’t the only popular anime-style girl game on Steam. In fact, following its launch, Umamusume: Pretty Derby has also been garnering significant attention, reaching over 50,000 simultaneous players at its highest point.
