Nintendo Is Ending The Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers Program

Given that the Nintendo Switch 2 has been released, it’s likely that Nintendo may adjust some policies to align with their vision for the console. One of these changes involves a cost: the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher program will no longer be available as of January 30, 2026. This suspension is permanent.

The Nintendo Switch Game Voucher plan enabled Nintendo Switch users to effectively pre-purchase two Nintendo Switch games (as long as they were part of the initiative) by buying two Game Vouchers priced at $100 each. Normally, these same games would cost $120 if bought separately. Notable first-party Nintendo releases like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were included in this program.

The Nintendo official support site announced that as of January 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time, they will no longer sell Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers. However, any vouchers bought before then will be valid for redemption for 12 months after the date of purchase.

The expiration policy for your game vouchers won’t be altered. These vouchers stay active for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. To clarify, if you acquire a bundle of Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers on January 30, 2026, each individual Nintendo Switch Game Voucher will remain valid until January 30, 2027.

Earlier, it was made clear by Nintendo that coupons bought via their program cannot buy games for the Nintendo Switch 2, and as of right now, there’s no alternative program available on the new console.
