In a manner that has never left me this exhilarated, I can’t wait to pen down the latest confrontation between newcomer Stephanie and Lisa over Lisa’s chronic tardiness. According to Stephanie, she has two major irritants: conversations revolving around male genitalia and individuals who habitually run late. Regarding the former, I frequently pay tribute to Kiki, the deity of masculinity, because it seems all I ever desire to discuss are “dicks, penises, and testicles.” However, when it comes to her second gripe, I find myself in full agreement. There is simply no more infuriating phenomenon than those who are chronically late.
I’m not just referring to those who might be tardy on occasion. I get it; meetings can stretch, phones can go missing, and traffic jams are common. If you find yourself running late, please shoot me a text and fill me in – I won’t hold it against you. As someone accustomed to city life, I know that public transportation isn’t always dependable, and sometimes, despite leaving early, the universe seems to work against you. So, everyone gets a 15-minute leeway.
As a punctuality advocate, I find it truly frustrating when individuals consistently run late, especially those with an uppercase ‘L’ and ‘P’. We’ve all encountered them – people who seem to defy the concept of timeliness regardless of where or when we meet. Fortunately, such characters are absent from my life as I simply can’t abide by their tardiness.
However, it’s important to note that exceptions exist even in this instance. One of my closest friends is consistently 10 minutes late, but I adapt and arrive at our meetings a little earlier to accommodate her schedule. In essence, we manage to be ‘on time’ within a 15-minute grace period.
What truly grinds my gears are individuals like Lisa, who seem to have mastered the art of being perpetually late. At this very moment, she is over two hours late – that’s a staggering 150 minutes! This leaves everyone else in an uncomfortable position, waiting idly in a Sprinter van while one person delays our plans. It’s infuriating, and if someone subjected me to such treatment once, I would sever all ties with them immediately.
At the van, Lisa arrives for Alexia’s divine party, but without an apology, excuse, or explanation. Instead, she tries to smooth things over by complimenting everyone on their appearance, hoping they’ll overlook her tardiness as they often have in the past. The scene cuts to a montage showing people’s reactions, with Andy Cohen expressing visible annoyance reminiscent of when he’s rejected by a twink. One might wonder why Lisa, essentially her superior, is kept waiting for such an extended period. What could possibly be so important that it takes her longer than everyone else? Lisa appears no more stylish, doesn’t have a more complex life, and even lacks a traditional job. What’s the reason for her delay?
Something feels different this time, it’s Stephanie. As soon as I board the bus, I find myself saying, ‘Stephanie, doesn’t it feel like your time is more valuable than ours? Are we here to celebrate your arrival? Is it polite to make everyone wait like this?’ Indeed, this is how I feel about people who are chronically late. You’re not superior to me, and I can’t afford to waste my own day because of your negligence. Delays of 10, 15, or even 20 minutes, I can tolerate. But two and a half hours! That is simply unacceptable. Someone should reprimand her severely, maybe even send her on an interstellar journey.
It’s astonishing that not one of the women has spoken up about Lisa’s behavior all these years, as both Marysol and Larsa admit they’ve endured it silently. One might wonder why they don’t assert themselves when dealing with such an issue. In my scenario, if I were in a similar situation with a coworker like Lisa, I wouldn’t tolerate her tardiness. Instead of yelling at her to become more punctual, I would enforce a rule: the bus departs after an hour, and if Lisa misses it, she’s not part of the episode and thus won’t be paid. Frankly, such behavior is unacceptable, not just for the other women but also for everyone involved in producing this show, including producers, camera crews, sound technicians, production assistants, and more. As a producer myself, I would deduct Lisa’s pay each time she was over 30 minutes late without a valid excuse because her tardiness is costing us money in overtime.
In fact, we do know you quite well, Lisa, and we’re aware that you’re always late, it really frustrates all of us, and it needs to be addressed.
So there!
Phew, kid, it’s a relief to express my feelings, and I can hardly wait until next week when the women finally arrive at Alexia’s divine party so late they could have screened the entire movie “Titanic” in the time it took them to get there. At least Alexia gets to spend time with her new mentor, Daniel Chidiac. I’m not familiar with him or what he does, but I do know one thing: he’s hotter than an overheating air fryer. I’d follow any instructions from this man, so I understand why Alexia is so captivated. I just wish she used their tardiness to move on from Todd and towards Daniel. I believe that kind of self-help is exactly what she needs.
In this episode, there wasn’t much else happening aside from focusing on Stephanie and her assortment of Birkins. However, due to the Eileen Davidson Accords, I must reserve judgment on her for a few more episodes. Given that she was only introduced towards the end of the season, it seems we’ll have our chance to weigh in during the reunion.
Guerdy and Julia meet for a discussion after their altercation at Marysol’s wedding reception. They both express regret, but not entirely, as neither fully apologizes. Julia acknowledges her actions of yelling and throwing water at Guerdy, but she fails to apologize for claiming they were never friends or for spreading rumors about the cruise incident that sparked their argument. On the other hand, Guerdy admits she was wrong for saying Julia underwent a facelift during Martina’s cancer treatment, admitting it was merely an attempt to retaliate after Julia had hurt her. However, this dispute seems stuck in a deadlock, much like Carrie and Aiden’s relationship in “And Just Like That…”, which appears to be deteriorating further as the season progresses.
In a heartwarming moment, Larsa and Kiki interacted with Kiki’s son Shemar, who was visiting from college along with his friend Nery. Kiki is making efforts to mend her relationship with her father and help him connect with Shemar. Interestingly, Larsa, who isn’t typically known for offering advice, suggests a unique approach to Kiki. Instead of scolding her father about potentially forgetting Shemar’s birthday, she advises Kiki to casually remind him that they’ll be celebrating his birthday with a cake, thereby allowing him to feel in control and like he came up with the idea himself. While it may seem that nothing happens without a woman reminding a man, this is just a reality we often observe. When Kiki was unsure about when to call her dad, Larsa suggested she make the call immediately. The conversation went smoothly, and for the first time in her life, Larsa played a crucial role in keeping the family together.
Regarding questionable men, the beginning of the episode raised some concerns about Lisa’s relationship with Jody. For instance, when Hurricane Milton approached Miami, Lisa inquired if they had hurricane insurance, mentioning it was required by Florida law. However, she was mistaken, and Jody reassured her not to worry. I’ve always found that a man who says “don’t worry” is one you should be cautious about. This is much like Joe Giudice dismissing Teresa’s concerns every time she questioned the strange mail they received from banks. If your partner doesn’t take the time to explain things and instead wants you to blindly trust their knowledge, it’s a warning sign as bright as Lindsay Lohan’s original hair color.
The second occurrence takes place as she’s in her private room (confessional) discussing her settlement deal with Lenny, and suddenly we hear Jody off-screen interrupting, telling her to wait. She remarks that Jody understands more about the situation than she does. Oh dear, Molly, you seem to be in a precarious position. This man seems to be encroaching on Lisa’s life in various potentially shady ways, but it could also just be him caring for her or ensuring someone is there for her. However, the show suggests this ambiguity. But remember, he might simply be being kind and protective; he might be watching out for her. The problem is, how can she focus on the details of her settlement agreement when she’s even late for her own appointments?
