Olivia ‘Livvy’ Dunne, a gymnast from D1, asserted that she made an offer to inhabit Babe Ruth’s legendary New York City dwelling, yet she alleges that some residents in the building were opposed to her residency there.

Livvy Dunne is both a globally recognized athlete and an influential figure on the internet, with a large number of dedicated fans following her on various social media outlets.

To put it simply, due to her immense popularity, she found herself unable to attend regular college classes on campus, and the excitement of her fans during gymnastics competitions escalated into a chaotic situation, necessitating an increase in security measures.

Despite being ranked fifth on TIME’s inaugural list of the Top 100 influencers, her immense popularity could have made her an unsuitable choice for the dream house she had envisioned.

8th of July, 2025, Dunne shared a video on TikTok, expressing her disappointment because she couldn’t secure the purchase of the iconic Manhattan apartment that was once home to the American baseball legend, Babe Ruth, on the Upper West Side.

In April 2025, the apartment on the seventh floor went up for sale at a price of $1.59 million. It has three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Although Dunne had the funds to buy the apartment in cold hard cash, she mentioned that the apartment complex’s cooperative (a collective of residents who own shares in the building) were hesitant about welcoming her as their neighbor.

She openly acknowledged her strong desire for the apartment. The realtor became increasingly certain, and together with Paul (Livvy’s MLB boyfriend), they even hired an interior designer. However, when the week arrived for her to receive the keys to her newly acquired apartment, she received a call instead.

I was turned down by the cooperative board, meaning the residents of the building decided against allowing me to reside there. Frankly, it’s alright with me. Perhaps they were supporters of Alabama, while I’m an LSU graduate.

Although she realized some residents may have been uncomfortable with a well-known person residing in their building because of potential fan and stalker disturbances, Dunne advised the audience to think twice before choosing a cooperative housing, as there’s a chance they could be turned down at the last minute, just as she experienced.

Critics, on the other hand, express a contrasting opinion. “What they wanted was not a celebrity. LSU had no part in it,” one of them commented.

Legendary baseball player Babe Ruth, from beyond, observes a 22-year-old social media star signing a deal in the apartment that once belonged to him.

“First world problems at its finest,” another penned.

Fortunately for Dunne, she apparently made approximately $9 million while competing at LSU, which means she has a good amount of money to buy another house – though it won’t be Babe Ruth’s historically significant residence.
