How to unlock Maleficent in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Following a series of patient months, it’s now feasible to incorporate Maleficent into your Valley, all thanks to the Storybook Vale: The Unwritten Realm expansion. However, acquiring her is no walk in the park.

In addition to routine upgrades and recently introduced downloadable content packs, Disney Dreamlight Valley is well-known for introducing exciting new characters into your journey. These characters range from Peter Pan, Flynn Ryder, Alice, and Merida, with more characters regularly being added to the game.

Upon being set free, they don’t automatically enter your realm. Instead, you need to put in some effort by accomplishing quests, preparing dishes, mining gemstones, and occasionally solving intricate puzzles. This is true for Maleficent, who has been waiting on the horizon since the Storybook Vale expansion was launched. Here’s how to gain access to her.

How to unlock Maleficent

Complete the Storybook Vale main quests

In Storybook Vale, the central plot revolves around your mission to convince Hades and Maleficent to recognize their mistakes. Helping Hades along is relatively straightforward, but to engage with Maleficent, you must first navigate your way to her fortress.

Head to the Unwritten Realms

Once you’ve finished the “Storm of Stories”, you’ll have the chance to converse with the Lorekeeper. The Lorekeeper will then task you with filling out a page that requires information about Maleficent’s current location.

They will tell you that she’s in a realm not yet written, and your task is to figure out how to unlock it, similar to what you did with The Net. Push the levers until Maleficent’s face appears. A clue: When the puzzle is solved, Maleficent will be facing you directly. The completed puzzle should resemble the image shown below.

With that, interact with the giant page and head inside to find Maleficent.

Find Maleficent’s ripped up ticket

Making my way up the steps, I stumble upon Maleficent, her expression clearly showing signs of growing irritation as she handles a stack of feather quills. A brief chat with her soon reveals the source of her aggravation.

Luckily, instead of having to wait for five eons, you can adjust the numbers in the puzzle to spell out Maleficent’s number. Here are the locations where you can find the corresponding puzzle pieces:

1. Behind the ancient tree in the enchanted forest
2. Hidden within the ruins of the forgotten castle
3. On top of the tallest mountain peak
4. Inside the crystal cave beneath the magical waterfall
5. At the center of the mystical labyrinth
6. In the heart of the dark woods, near the whispering willows
7. By the shores of the haunted lake, where the moonlight reflects off the water
8. In the depths of the secret cavern, reachable only by a narrow tunnel
9. Atop the twisted branches of the gnarled tree in the swampy marshlands
10. Inside the hollow of the colossal stone statue in the desert wasteland

Gather everyone together, arrange them in your collection along with their assigned numbers: 9375. Afterward, make your way back to Quill, who will guide you to the Processing Area.

Solve Maleficent’s First Anchor Moment

This puzzle is quite challenging. You can either attempt to solve it by arranging the stone statues so they all face upward on your own, then using the images provided, or you could simply look at the image given below for help.

If you prefer to figure it out independently, here’s a clue: Since there are no skulls with eye patches present, they shouldn’t be added to the display. Instead, concentrate on the items that are actually there, not those that aren’t.

Afterwards, make your way back to Maleficent, deliver the anchor to her, and then there will be two additional tasks for you before she is completely saved.

If you manage to answer them accurately, they’ll provide you with the spinning device. Fasten it onto the base and rotate the gears. You must align them perfectly for the light to pass through to the end. It might require some trial and error.

Instead, consider aligning all of them from right to left, then rotating them so they stand upright. After that, rotate the middle piece until the rightmost one allows light through the center three. Finally, utilize the last one to finish solving the puzzle.

Next, head inside the realm.

Move the statues

You’ll need to move both statues up to solve this puzzle. The first is Aurora.

Turn right, push past the obstacles ahead, and don’t forget to engage any handles, dials, or water-related devices as you go; these will shift the pathway so you can retrieve the item for the next water mechanism. Grab this item and position it behind Aurora, then employ your watering can.

Next, proceed to the opposite location for the Spinning Top. Remove the cups surrounding it and moisten the device. Once wet, the door will unlock and provide the second message.

Go to Maleficent, speak to her, and then you’re on to the third and final step.
