Opus Major’s inaugural title, Majjam, is a thrilling multiplayer game that revolves around music to drive its gameplay entirely. The movement across the world, battles, interaction, and exploration are all influenced by “live jam” sessions – impromptu musical collaborations where musicians join forces with their instruments and voices.
Majjam is characterized as a collaborative multiplayer adventure and MMO in which you can employ your unique rhythms, melodies, and harmonies to join forces and save the world from destruction. In this game, music serves as the vital essence of life, preventing the malevolent force known as Kodé from taking over. Kodé is a sinister influence that’s spreading death and quietness through a foreboding fog.
Collaborating with your buddies, you’ll channel musical power through jam sessions, leveraging each character’s special talents and instruments to conquer challenges, vanquish foes, and finally save the world.
In Majjam, you advance by using music and creativity, but Opus assures us that no prior instrumental skill is necessary to enjoy the game. As you make your way through, you’ll uncover new musical talents, each with its unique ability to bring out the fullest potential of the game world.
Discussing the announcement, the founders of Opus Major, Pierre-Armand Nicq and Jean-Nicolas Vernin, expressed their vision as follows: “Our aim is to unite the world in a musical jam. In music, a ‘jam’ refers to an instant when energy flows between musicians, whether friends, strangers, or like-minded individuals who just happen to be present. Despite not knowing each other, you might sync up for some magical, impromptu moments. It’s the same feeling you sometimes get while playing multiplayer games online. Our ambition is to compile all these delightful, shared experiences into one harmonious interaction.
In September, Majjam will start a private testing phase for their new game, which they call a “closed alpha playtest.” Opus acknowledges that the initial version of the game may have issues, but they are eager to hear from players about how they can improve it. They invite players not only to test the game, but also to collaborate with them in its development over the next few months. If you’re interested in participating, you can sign up on Majjam’s website or add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
