These Two ’90s Gaming Icons Are Coming To World Of Tanks

In the upcoming Battle Pass Special for World of Tanks, we’ll see some unexpected celebrities making an appearance. The action hero Duke Nukem and the adventurous Lara Croft from Tomb Raider will each have their unique tanks featured in separate storylines known as Heroes’ Paths. These special episodes run from July 10 to July 21, according to the trailer released below. In Lara’s chapter, there are a total of 30 stages, while Duke’s chapter offers a more extensive journey with 40 stages.

Keeley Hawes will once again embody the character of Lara Croft, originally seen in several Tomb Raider games prior to the 2013 reboot and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. In this game, unlike her usual style, Lara drives a U.S. Tier VIII versatile medium tank, which is equipped with many of Lara’s archaeological tools such as her hatchet, ropes, cables, winch, and more.

In a return to his famous character, Jon St. John, who is the sole voice actor for Duke Nukem, will once again take on the role for this special appearance. Unlike Lara Croft, it’s consistent with Duke’s persona when he’s driving a tank. His vehicle of choice is the TS-6, a high-tier U.S. assault heavy tank powered by nuclear energy. As expected, it’s equipped with plenty of Duke’s signature weaponry such as laser machine guns, grenade launchers, and other advanced weapon systems.

In this collaboration between Duke and Lara, you’ll notice several references to their past adventures with familiar faces reappearing, customizable items, and hidden treasures. For this special occasion, a fresh Lara Croft theme song has been composed, while Duke Nukem’s iconic Grabbag tune will be used in his segment of the game.

This past summer, the Russian game studio Lesta Games (known for Mir Tankov, a spin-off of World of Tanks) faced accusations from Russia that they were improperly transferring funds from their game to Ukraine. It’s worth noting that Wargaming, the creators of World of Tanks, have openly expressed their backing for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. Despite these allegations, it is important to note that Wargaming and Lesta Games are no longer affiliated, even though they were previously connected.
