Today, 2K and Gearbox Software unveiled “Borderlands 4” in a new trailer titled “#2 – Welcome to Kairos”. This video delves into the past and folklore of Kairos, introducing major factions on this planet like the Outbounders, Augurs, and Electi. Listen as the scriptwriting team shares their perspectives on these influential figures from Kairos, powerful commanders in each region, and how they crafted the oppressive Timekeeper character.
On the planet Kairos, a craving for change is palpable. Multiple factions are competing to stay alive amidst the turmoil. The Outbounders, stranded on Kairos and unable to depart, the Augurs, descendants of the initial miners tasked with resource acquisition for the Timekeeper, and the Electi, the ruling class of Kairos who have been barred from the city fortifications, are all adapting to survive. The Vault Hunters find themselves in this volatile world of Kairos, and every path leads to the Timekeeper, who wields power through advanced cybernetic implants known as “Bolts.
On September 12, 2025, Borderlands 4 will officially release globally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms including Steam and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are currently available.
