Despite garnering positive feedback for its gameplay and graphics since its launch in February, Monster Hunter Wilds has faced criticism due to its tendency to run poorly, even on high-end gaming machines. Notably, a scheduled lecture by Capcom on optimizing the game’s performance had to be canceled, as fans of the series expressed dissatisfaction with the studio’s progress in this area, according to Automaton Media.
The scheduled talk was set for the CEDEC 2025 in Japan, otherwise known as the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference. Although Capcom hasn’t disclosed the specific cause for canceling this lecture, it’s speculated that one of the primary factors was the harassment and threats directed towards their staff members.
It’s worth noting that CEDEC 2025 originally planned to dedicate numerous sessions, around 200 in total, to the topic of “Monster Hunter Wilds”. These sessions were intended to discuss various aspects such as user interface art, narrative design, and a now-cancelled lecture on game optimization titled “Mastering Optimization for Seamless Gameplay: Monster Hunter Wilds”.
At CEDEC 2025, there will be numerous other talks scheduled as well. The event is set to commence on July 22 and conclude on July 24. In essence, it serves as the Japanese equivalent of a Game Developer’s Conference, providing a platform for developers to gather, share ideas, and educate one another about game development techniques they’ve discovered while creating their own games.
It’s important to mention that Capcom has acknowledged and been dealing with optimization issues in Monster Hunter World, as evidenced by the performance problems introduced in Update 2. In a social media post, they provided temporary fixes for players seeking ways to lower their CPU usage. Additionally, Capcom confirmed that they have decreased the amount of VRAM that Monster Hunter World can utilize.
Title Update 2 for “Monster Hunter Wilds” introduced a plethora of fresh content. Star attractions among this influx were the introduction of two new monsters, Lagiacrus and Seregios, to the game. These monsters also debuted their exclusive armor sets and weapons, each boasting special skills that could significantly alter their weapon’s usage strategies. Simultaneously, Capcom included DLSS 4 support for “Monster Hunter Wilds” on systems utilizing compatible Nvidia GPUs.
The upcoming significant version for Monster Hunter Wilds, titled Update 3, is projected to drop in September. This latest release will introduce a harder quest level and a brand-new feature enabling players to create Talismans, as confirmed by Capcom. For further information, please follow this link.
