Hulk and Wolverine have a well-established feud in the comics that needs to be translated into live-action. The successful pairing of Deadpool and Wolverine, portrayed by two fantastic actors in emblematic roles for one of Marvel Universe’s most enjoyable crossovers, has paved the way for more such memorable encounters.
In truth, that movie tantalizingly hinted at the potential for an epic showdown by flashing a brief sneak peek of a multiverse Hulk squaring off against Wolverine. Regrettably, it merely served as a tease and failed to deliver a genuine battle between the colossal Green Giant and Logan.
16 years back, Marvel Studios put out a project that delved deeper into this conflict, yet it mysteriously escaped notice.
Hulk Vs. Pitted Wolverine Against The Marvel Hero In 2009
Hulk Vs. Is An Official Marvel Studios Release
2009 saw the release of an animated film titled “Hulk Vs.” by Marvel Studios. Interestingly enough, this was only a year after the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) commenced with films like “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk“. Notably, it had an executive producer credit from Kevin Feige, and unlike many other MCU productions, it was initially released straight to video.
The movie is rather brief, divided into three parts. First, it showcases a battle between Hulk and Thor, followed by another segment featuring Hulk engaging in combat with Wolverine. In total, these segments amount to approximately 80 minutes.
In other words, since Hulk Vs. wasn’t a theatrical release and streaming services were still in their infancy when it came out, it didn’t have a major impact at the time. Nevertheless, it offers an engaging look into a highly anticipated rivalry.
The Hulk Vs. Wolverine Fight Really Shows The Potential Of The Two Fighting On-Screen
Hulk Fighting Wolverine Could Deliver Incredible Crossover Potential
In summary, the latter part of the film focuses on a thrilling, extended fight scene pitting Hulk against Wolverine – a battle that takes up about 40 minutes of carefully orchestrated combat action featuring these iconic characters.
They battle across various terrains, stretching their abilities to the utmost, to determine who among them is the strongest. With Hulk, his robust physique, immense strength, and size seemingly give him an edge. However, Wolverine’s diminutive stature is offset by his rapid healing ability and Adamantium claws, making him a formidable adversary.
Engaging in this protracted action scene that really tests the boundaries of these characters’ abilities, and investing such a significant amount of effort in exploring these concepts, provides an astonishingly immersive glimpse into what might translate effectively on the silver screen.
With the freedom animation offered, the creative minds behind Hulk Vs. managed to pull off some breathtaking feats, even on a budget significantly lower than what big-budget Hollywood films typically have at their disposal. Taking everything into account, this is an outstanding animated journey that’s definitely worth watching.
Hulk Vs. Makes An MCU Hulk & Wolverine Fight Feel More Needed Now It’s Becoming Increasingly Possible For The Franchise
The MCU Can Finally Deliver This Iconic Battle Of The Titans
Animation has its limits when it comes to bringing ideas to life, but well-executed live-action can take things to a whole new level of excitement. Consequently, a live-action version of the epic battle between Wolverine and Hulk, given their all, is essential for the MCU, especially considering that we’ve never been closer to making it happen than we are today.
Hugh Jackman has formally become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the roles of both Deadpool and Wolverine. As for Bruce Banner, although he has evolved into the more sophisticated, seemingly less powerful Smart Hulk, there is a possibility that the MCU could reinstate him as the ferocious combatant he previously was.
If the Marvel Cinematic Universe manages to make Hulk lose control, it opens up the possibility for an intense battle between these two characters that could cause seismic activity on Earth. Just as fans eagerly anticipated the pairing of Wolverine and Deadpool, this potential rivalry is deeply rooted in Marvel history, and failing to bring this concept to life in live-action would be a significant lost opportunity.
Given that Marvel Studios experimented with this concept in an animated form as early as 2009, it’s evident that it’s a concept worth pursuing. However, the MCU can’t stop there. There are some details to sort out first, such as wrapping up the Multiverse Saga. But a Hulk vs Wolverine showdown should be high on the list for the next Marvel Saga, or even sooner if the circumstances align favorably.
When Hulk Vs Wolverine Could Happen In The MCU
There Are Some Major Crossovers Due Soon In The MCU
Currently, Wolverine seems to be teaming up with Deadpool in their dimension. Yet, they’ve become knowledgeable about traversing universes, so if necessary, they could be summoned when Doctor Doom poses a significant threat on Earth-616. In other words, if Wolverine manages to reach Earth-616, he stands a good chance of encountering Hulk.
Instead, let me rephrase: Since the events of “Avengers: Infinity War”, Bruce Banner has experienced quite a rollercoaster. After Hulk was defeated by Thanos, he faced difficulty emerging again, causing Bruce considerable distress due to his lack of backup. However, they eventually discovered a method where Banner took control of their mind and will, while Hulk’s physical form emerged.
In their present form, the Smart Hulk isn’t much of a test for a character such as Logan.
In the movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” circumstances might lead Bruce Banner to relinquish control and let the Hulk take over. This film will also include several X-Men characters, possibly with Jackman reprising his role. If not during “Doomsday,” a confrontation between heroes could occur in “Avengers: Secret Wars.” This potential fight might happen if Doom sets up a Battleworld scenario where the heroes are pitted against each other.
Moving forward, it’s quite probable that the upcoming tale will feature the Mutants in a significant role, and it seems Hulk’s previous appearance hinted at his narrative continuing. Somehow, there’s a strong possibility we’ll witness a confrontation between Hulk and Wolverine. If all goes as planned, this long-anticipated showdown could be brought to life from the animated Hulk Vs., transitioning it into live-action.
