Rami Malek’s Hit Thriller Series Is Suddenly Taking Over Netflix

Rami Malek’s popular hacker-themed series, initially released a decade ago, has been gaining momentum on streaming platforms recently. It became available on Netflix starting July 3rd.

As of July 5th, Mr. Robot is ranked number 7 among Netflix’s most popular TV shows in the U.S. The show’s popularity on streaming platforms has increased significantly within just two days, indicating that viewers are still interested in re-watching it even years after its final season concluded. This series, centered around hacking, premiered on USA Network back in 2015 and ran for four seasons, with the final episodes airing towards the end of 2019.

As Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity expert and unconventional hacker struggling with social anxiety, depression, and multiple personality disorder, gets enlisted by an anarchist called ‘Mr. Robot’ (portrayed by Christian Slater) into a group of activist hackers. This puts him in a tricky position as he juggles his dual roles: one as a tech professional safeguarding corporations, the other as a secret vigilante working to dismantle them.

Mr. Robot delves into the realms of technology and ethical hacking, intertwining these themes with Elliot’s personal struggles, mental health issues, and the influence of technology on human relationships. The entire series spanning four seasons received overwhelming critical praise, boasting an average approval rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, with each season scoring over 90%.

The acting of both Malek and Slater in the show has garnered acclaim from critics and viewers alike. During its initial broadcast, the series won two, three Primetime Emmys and a Peabody Award. Now that it’s available on Netflix, fans who watched it when it was on USA Network can rewatch it ten years later, and those who missed out on the original airing now have an opportunity to understand why the show has gained such a devoted following over time.

Rami Malek Talked About a Mr. Robot Reunion

Despite the fact that it’s been over six years since the final episode of “Mr. Robot” aired, the series’ cast members have managed to stay connected. More recently, Malek mentioned the possibility of a “Mr. Robot” reunion in his new movie, “The Amateur“. He stated, “I just had dinner with [series creator Sam Esmail] in London about a week and a half ago. We had a traditional British Sunday roast together. We’re like brothers, and we always will be. Christian [Slater] is currently on Broadway in New York, so go check that out. We all stay in touch,” he said.

Malek pondered over his computer expertise, honed during shows such as Mr. Robot. “To be honest,” he confessed, “I’ve become a bit anxious about the extent of what I know concerning the CIA and data analysis, especially regarding the information that is being collected on everyone. It has definitely given me cause for concern.

Mr. Robot is now streaming on Netflix.
