War in Anno 117: Pax Romana will eat up our economy in no time, especially since it will be necessary to efficiently combine sea and land battles

As we inch towards the launch of Anno 117: Pax Romana, the developers can hardly contain their eagerness to discuss the various gameplay aspects. In a recent blog post by the creators, they delved deeper into the naval and land combat mechanics, as well as addressing the strategy for managing resources during conflict.

  1. In the game, the synergy between armies will be crucial. The fleet will serve us both for transporting ground units (scorpions), and for supporting them in battle using ships equipped with catapults (slow and inaccurate) or towers with archers of limited range.
  2. In the land army, we will see infantry, distance units, cavalry, and artillery. Each of them will receive their own building, responsible for recruitment or the production chain of equipment. In our ranks, among others, legionnaires will appear, supported by the auxiliary formation armed with spears. Different units will be particularly weak or effective in combat against specific types of troops.
  3. We will develop both the land and sea army using discovery trees. Thanks to them, we will also unlock extra units.
  4. The creators will let us build solid fortresses. In Anno 117: Pax Romana, it will be possible to surround cities with a palisade and an inner wall with guard towers.
  5. Once again, we also received confirmation that the war will heavily burden the economy. Maintaining an army requires a stable income, including constant production of food and clothing. The workforce itself will also prove crucial, the lack of which will gradually weaken the military.

I’m thrilled to share that “Anno 117: Pax Romana,” the captivating strategy game, is all set for its grand launch on November 13th of this year! This epic adventure will be available not just on PC, but also on the next-gen platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Can’t wait to dive into the Roman Empire and build my own thriving city!
