In a exciting development, Minecraft has confirmed the arrival of a fresh character called Copper Golem, making it exceptional since this previously voted-for mob from the past is being introduced to the game even though it didn’t win its initial vote.
From 20XX (when changed in 2025) through each Minecraft Live event prior, a mob vote was held, enabling players to select among three potential new game creatures; the one amassing the most votes would be introduced in the next update. In 2021, the Allay emerged victorious, garnering widespread affection for its cute pixie-like appearance. Regrettably, fans of the Copper Golem were disappointed as it did not win and was not added to Minecraft.
Until 2025, Mojang revealed that the mob (creature in Minecraft) would eventually appear, even though the vote on it was lost. If you’re as excited as many players are about this news, here’s what you should know regarding the Copper Golem: information on their abilities, crafting instructions, and crucially, when they will be introduced into the game.
What are they
Unlike Iron Golems or Snow Golems, Copper Golems have a distinctly different appearance. They are significantly smaller in size and might even be considered cute by some.
Regarding its functions, the Copper Golem is designed to assist you in managing your inventory by transferring items from copper chests to ordinary ones for better organization. Additionally, it roams around your base independently, adding a touch of activity to your environment.
As a gamer, I’ll notice that over time and with exploration, my in-game items might subtly transform into shades of blue. Fear not, they won’t malfunction or vanish. The color change is merely a cosmetic part of the aging process, similar to how copper chests patina in this virtual world.
It’s important to mention that unlike the Iron Golem, the Copper Golem will not defend you in a fight. In fact, it may choose to retreat when confronted with an attack.
How to make Copper Golems
In order to create the Copper Golem, first, position a block of copper on the ground, followed by placing a pumpkin or jack o’lantern atop it.
To ensure proper placement, the pumpkin should be your final choice among blocks, however, it can still be put down by you, other players, dispensers, or even Endermen.
Once you do, the Golem will spawn with a copper chest.
When are they coming to Minecraft?
It’s confirmed that the Copper Golem is expected to make its appearance in Minecraft during the fall of 2025. However, an official release date for this arrival hasn’t been disclosed as of now.
Based on the Spring to Life update arriving in March and Chase the Skies being released in June, it’s reasonable to anticipate a gap of approximately three months. This suggests that the Copper Golem update might be launched around September.
As soon as we receive a release date or additional details, we’ll make sure to update this post, so keep an eye on it or give the beta and snapshot versions a try for a sneak peek at the new content. In the interim, feel free to explore top-tier seeds, homes, or methods for locating more mob vote creatures like the Sniffer or the charming Armadillo.
