Dying Light: The Beast outlines the future of Techland’s zombie series. For this to happen, devs had to get rid of an important element of the sequel

In an interview with Gamesradar+, Tymon Smektla, director of the Dying Light series from Techland, revealed that the upcoming game, Dying Light: The Beast, will have a narrow range of choices. This design choice is intended to solidify the official storyline of the series.

In Dying Light 2, players were given the opportunity to influence the game’s conclusion through their decisions. However, the developers chose to minimize the frequent choice options because The Beast is intended to set the course for the future of the series. To maintain consistency in the spin-off and ensure that all fans experience the same ending, a single conclusion has been designed for it.

One aspect of “Dying Light: The Beast” is subtly suggesting the direction for the series. To ensure that the character Kyle Crane ends up exactly where we envisioned at the conclusion of the game, we opted to deviate from the narrative choices in “Dying Light 2,” as stated by Smektala.

Despite being a spin-off, Techland considers The Beast as a crucial component of their universe. In fact, it has been suggested that this game could be regarded, in a way, as “Dying Light 3” in some interviews.

The upcoming game titled “Dying Light: The Beast” is set to launch on August 22, 2025. It will be available for play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the newer generation of Xbox consoles, namely the Xbox Series X/S.
