For nine glorious years, Pokemon Go has been a beloved part of our lives, and to celebrate its birthday, there’s an exclusive anniversary event running until July 6! During this celebration, you might just get your hands on the elusive Gimmighoul, a Coin Hunter Pokemon that’s usually quite tricky to find within the game. But fear not, as part of the festivities, you can catch some by completing research tasks! And if luck is on your side, you might even stumble upon a shimmering shiny one.

How To Get Gimmighoul
In addition to trading, there are primarily two ways to obtain Gimmighoul in Pokemon Go. The first approach is by using the Coin Bag, an item you receive following the link between your mobile game and Pokemon Scarlet or Violet. Another method is just waiting for the Pokemon to appear during special event occurrences.
1. Coin Bag
Just like Meltan, Gimmighoul usually shows up in Pokemon Go following the use of a particular item – in this instance, it’s called the Coin Bag.
To get the Coin Bag in your inventory, first, link your Pokémon Go account with either Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet on Nintendo Switch. Then, after pairing, send a postcard from the mobile game to the connected title. Upon finishing this process, the Coin Bag will be added to your in-game items.
Just like the Mystery Box, the Coin Bag operates with a time limit. Upon opening it, Roaming Form Gimmighoul appears in the wild for approximately 30 minutes, providing an opportunity to catch as many as possible during this short span. Once the 30-minute period is over, the Coin Bag seals itself, and you must wait for a full day before sending another postcard to reopen it again.
2. Events
Alongside the Coin Pouch, Gimmighoul might show up at unique gatherings, like our ongoing Ninth Anniversary Celebration, which runs from July 1st to the 6th.
As a gamer, I’ve discovered that by finishing Field and Time-bound Research missions during this exciting event, there’s a chance for me to capture the elusive creature, Gimmighoul. Unlike regular Gimmighoul, the ones appearing here might be clinging to a unique Ninth Anniversary token, making them incredibly rare treasures!
How To Evolve Gimmighoul
While the majority of Pokemon need a specific amount of candies to transform, Gimmighoul has an unusual requirement: it needs lots and lots of coins to evolve.
catching wild Gimmighoul, visiting PokeStops equipped with Golden Lure Modules, and walking with Gimmighoul as your buddy will earn you coins too.
Due to the rarity of Gimmighoul coins, it might take some time to gather enough to transform one into Gholdengo. But don’t worry! The Ninth Anniversary Party event is making it simpler to obtain these coins. By spinning PokeStops with a Golden Lure Module active, you could potentially find nine, 99, or even more Gimmighoul coins, so make sure to capitalize on this bonus if you aspire to get a Gholdengo.
Can Gimmighoul Be Shiny
Even though not all Pokemon have a shimmering variant as of now, Gimmighoul is an exception, and it’s quite simple to distinguish it from its regular counterpart.
In contrast to regular Gimmighoul, which sports a silvery body, a shiny one appears white. Immediately identifying whether you’ve encountered a shiny or not becomes straightforward due to this difference. On the other hand, distinguishing between regular and shiny Gholdengo is more challenging; its body color stays the same, but it adorns blue lines instead of red ones.
During its ninth anniversary celebration, which ends on July 6 for Pokemon Go, it’s a great opportunity to capture the elusive Coin Hunter Pokemon, Gimmighoul. Afterward, you’ll only be able to obtain more by using your Coin Bag, so don’t let this chance slip away!
