Ninjutsu hand seal-based game BE Ninja releases for PC via Steam Early Access

The independent Japanese developer Fortgs has unveiled an Early Access version of the PC game BE Ninja through Steam. Although it appears that this indie title was developed using RPG Maker, it stands out due to its incorporation of player-controlled camera inputs demonstrating authentic ninjutsu hand gestures. Consequently, playing this game necessitates having a webcam connected to your computer.

In this Ninja game, you’ll find tutorials demonstrating the correct hand seal positions, accompanied by 3D models of hands for better understanding. Additionally, there are mini-games designed to help you master these seals swiftly. This emphasis on seals is crucial as it boosts your ninjutsu abilities in real combat situations if you can complete the sequences more quickly.

Below, you’ll discover screenshots and explanations for the game BE Ninja. Although the Steam page provides English descriptions, it’s important to note that at the time of its Early Access release, the game was only accessible in Japanese.

Perform ninjutsu by tying seals with your own hands!

A key aspect of this game lies in its ability to identify the marks made by the players using their hands, thanks to the camera’s advanced recognition capabilities.

To get a feel for using ninjutsu, make a quick gesture that resembles what a real ninja would do.

A camera is required to play this game.

Game Overview

As I step into the game world, I find myself embodying a green-clad newcomer ninja, navigating through feudal Japan during the turbulent Sengoku era. Armed with the martial arts techniques I’ve learned, I engage in thrilling battles and delve into the heart of this fascinating land.

Battle

This is a turn-based battle between the player and the enemy.

During each play, the player is given a specific timeframe to act. Within this timeframe, the player is free to utilize their ninjutsu skills as frequently as desired.

In addition, the faster a mark is made, the more powerful the ninjutsu will be.

In other words, the faster you can make a mark, the more advantageous you will be in the battle!

Enemies with various characteristics will appear on the stage.

Adversaries who retaliate each time they’re provoked, adversaries whose assaults become ineffective unless a specific amount of damage is inflicted, adversaries whose attacking strength rises with each passing turn… and so forth.

The player’s ability to analyze and make decisions will be challenged to discern the traits of the adversary and when to employ specific strategies.

Practice

Practicing asceticism (mini-games) at home can increase a player’s status for a while.

Instead of battles, the mini-games offer players an opportunity to engage in the fun of making their own mark.
