Electronic Arts (EA) is aiming to score another basket, as EA Sports has declared their comeback in creating College Basketball video games. This announcement follows the incredible triumph of College Football 25.
College basketball will once again be under the limelight as EA Sports has announced its comeback at the college level. A hint about a new game release is expected on June 30, 2025.
The EA Sports X account posted, ‘Let’s relive the excitement!’ along with a hashtag for College Basketball. For those unfamiliar with American sports terminology, ‘Madness’ here refers to the annual March Madness tournament.
The image provided leaves no room for doubt, depicting a digitally created basketball sporting the EA Sports emblem. Clearly, it’s high time we restart the game for the first occasion since 2009.
Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back. #CBB #ItsInTheGame

EA Sports returning to College Basketball
Prior to 2K Games’ supremacy, several basketball game developers vied for recognition. Electronic Arts (EA) stood out among them, managing both the yearly NBA Live franchise and the NCAA Basketball series as well.
From 2009 onwards, Electronic Arts (EA) ceased developing college-level basketball games, with NCAA Basketball 10 being their last release. Meanwhile, NBA Live carried on until 2018.
It appears that things are about to shift from what they’ve been. At present, we can’t predict exactly when Electronic Arts (EA Sports) plans to launch a fresh College Basketball game, but considering the unexpected announcement, there’s a good chance we’ll find out soon.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m always eagerly anticipating the annual release of NBA games from 2K Games, usually in September. Maybe EA Sports is planning to steal the spotlight by launching their game earlier or capitalizing on the buzz surrounding 2K26 with a more timely release. Only time will tell which strategy they choose and how it unfolds.

Last year, after a ten-year hiatus from College Football, EA’s return sparked an uproar in the gaming industry. The debut of EA Sports College Football 25 saw an astounding 2.8 million units sold, and it has since claimed the title of the top-selling sports-focused video game in the United States ever made.
Certainly, it’s not unexpected that EA aims to reproduce that degree of achievement in a different domain now. Previously overlooked for many years, College Basketball finally has its moment in the spotlight within the gaming realm.
