Is Microsoft currently developing several new Halo initiatives, and can you tell us what these are and when we’ll find out? It might not be too long before the future of Halo becomes clearer. Halo Studios has announced that they will reveal details about the next steps for Halo at the Halo World Championships event in October.
In their latest blog post, Halo Studios admitted they’ve noticed quite a bit of guesswork regarding when and where additional information about upcoming Halo projects may surface. However, they felt compelled to join the conversation and provide some extra insight for fans who might be hesitant about attending this year’s event, the developer stated.
Last year during the Halo World Championships, Microsoft unveiled the “A New Dawn” trailer which showcased ideas for upcoming Halo projects built on the Unreal Engine, such as Project Foundry. It was also when Microsoft announced that 343 Industries would now be known as Halo Studios.
From us, A New Dawn was merely the start – we’re eagerly anticipating carrying on the discussion at this year’s HaloWC,” the developer expressed. “While speculation can be intriguing, if you’re keen to learn about what Halo Studios have been secretly crafting, make sure you don’t miss this year’s Halo World Championship.
The occasion is scheduled for October 24th to 26th, right here in Seattle. You have the option to purchase tickets for the event or catch the games live over the internet.
The most recent addition to the main Halo series is Halo Infinite from 2021. Since then, Microsoft has implemented significant changes such as appointing a new leadership team and switching game engines. They’ve also admitted that Halo Infinite didn’t quite meet its goals upon release, likening it to a runner stumbling at the finish line, as stated by Xbox leader Matt Booty.
Pierre Hintze, the studio head, stated that “Halo Infinite” was a reflection of our old approach to creating Halo games. It served as our unique formula or method. However, currently, we are in the process of altering our method or recipe.
According to recent news, there are rumors that Microsoft is planning to make Halo available on PS5 and the upcoming Switch 2. This potential move might take place by the end of this year. More specifically, it’s been suggested that Microsoft is working on a remastered version of Halo: Combat Evolved.
In addition, if reports are true, Microsoft could launch a new Halo project next year, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Xbox and Halo in 2026. The head of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, has hinted at this possibility, mentioning that along with new Fable and Gears of War games, a fresh Halo project might be released next year.
