‘The Batman 2’ Script Is Finally Done

Three years after The Batman opened in theaters, the script for the sequel is finally complete.

Matt Reeves, one of the co-writers and directors for “The Batman”, recently posted a script photo on his Instagram account with the caption “Partners in Crime (Fighters)” and several bat symbols. This post was also shared by Mattson Tomlin, another screenwriter who contributed unaccredited work to “The Batman” and has been working alongside Reeves on the new screenplay, hinting at their collaborative efforts.

I’ve just confirmed that the script for “The Batman: Part II” has been finalized with Warner Bros., as suggested by their latest updates. Although the title page in the photo seems a bit unclear, it appears that the working title of the movie still remains “The Batman: Part II,” which aligns with how Warner Bros. and DC initially introduced the project.

In March of 2022, “The Batman,” featuring Robert Pattinson portraying an early-career Dark Knight, debuted in cinemas. This movie brought in approximately $770 million at the box office, prompting Warner Bros. to immediately announce a follow-up film, but so far, details about this sequel have yet to be disclosed.

For now, James Gunn and Peter Safran are now leading as CEOs of DC Studios. Previously, Gunn mentioned he anticipated a sequel for The Batman, yet envisioned his new DC Universe (with its debut film being Gunn’s own Superman) to have a distinct Batman and Robin. Since then, several DC movies proposed by Gunn have begun production (including a fresh perspective on Supergirl), but recently, he acknowledged that the Batman remains the main challenge for him in the current DC movie and TV scene.

Gunn’s Superman will debut in cinemas on July 11, while The Batman: Part II’s release date is yet to be confirmed.
