Disney In Talks With OpenAI Amid Lawsuit Against Midjourney – Report

Recently, I found myself caught up in an exciting turn of events involving Walt Disney Pictures. Just this month, they took a bold step, filing a lawsuit against a prominent AI company, Midjourney. The lawsuit alleges that Midjourney has been misusing our studios’ copyrighted materials, a claim also shared by Comcast.

However, in an interesting twist, there are rumors circulating about Disney potentially entering into a partnership with OpenAI. Could this be a sign of a shift in strategy? Only time will tell.

In the contemporary era, Disney hasn’t shied away from artificial intelligence (AI). For instance, they loaned an AI-generated Darth Vader, voiced by James Earl Jones, to Fortnite. The field of AI is a significant discussion point in gaming today. However, Frontier Development encountered criticism over the use of generative AI in Jurassic World Evolution 3, prompting them to withdraw it from the game. On the other hand, Nintendo’s Masahiro Sakurai posits that AAA video game development is becoming challenging, and he anticipates that AI could assist companies in streamlining their processes.
