Robotaxi drops YouTubers into traffic and they can’t believe it

In the bustle of traffic, a self-driving Tesla Taxi deposited some YouTubers, leaving them somewhat astonished as they discovered an issue or “glitch” in the ride service.

Over a considerable period, automakers have persistently striven to refine the fabrication of autonomous vehicles. Although these haven’t been widely accessible worldwide yet, some nations permit their operation within taxi services.

Primarily, they can be found in China and the U.S., but as with many endeavors, they’ve encountered some unexpected hiccups along the way. For instance, Waymo taxis have been observed honking their horns unnecessarily during late-night hours.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve come across my fair share of glitches and errors even when everyone else seems to be cruising along smoothly. It’s my job to spot these issues and report them back for fixing, just like how a bug collector seeks out rare specimens in the wild.

During his experience with Tesla’s Robotaxi service, YouTuber Farzad encountered an unexpected surprise: the vehicle chose to stop right in the middle of an intersection.

During a video on June 23, an unexpected incident occurred involving the ex-Tesla employee and his podcast companion, Hans. They had requested the autonomous car for an early disembarkation before their scheduled stop. It seemed that the Robotaxi had navigated past the intersection from within, but surprisingly, the door suddenly opened into moving traffic as it was not safe.

Hans commented, “We’re temporarily at an impasse, right in the crossroads,” while Farzad chimed in, “That area should have been avoided by the vehicle.” Later on, he exclaimed, “It seems we’ve discovered a small issue, if you will!

Additionally, Hans mentioned that the autonomous taxi didn’t drop him off at his desired location as planned, instead driving past it and entering the intersection.

Although there was an error, the duo expressed great satisfaction with how “seamless” the proceedings turned out to be as a whole, describing it as a “remarkable” or “unbelievable” journey, given that they were being driven by a computer.
