Dubbed the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition, this version boasts the same technological specifications and features as the standard Meta Quest 3S 128GB model, but it sports a sleek black and green color scheme on both the headset and Touch Plus controllers. This limited-edition item can only be purchased in the US from Best Buy and Meta stores. The Quest 3S Xbox Edition is available as part of a $400 bundle that includes matching versions of Meta’s Elite Strap, the official Xbox Wireless Controller, three-month subscriptions for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Meta Horizon+, and other related accessories.
This bundle is quite a valuable offer! Typically, the standard Meta Quest 3S 128GB costs $299 and comes with just the headset and Touch Plus controllers. However, this package includes four additional items – an Xbox Wireless Controller ($65), Elite Strap ($70), Game Pass Ultimate ($60), and Meta Horizon+ ($24) – that together are worth $219. Essentially, you’re getting a discount of $119 with this bundle, and it’s important to note that the special-edition designs for the controllers and headset add even more value. Both Xbox and Meta have stated that supplies are limited, and once they run out, they won’t be available again.
The Meta Quest 3S operates independently as a virtual reality headset, featuring all the essential components for playing or streaming games without relying on an additional gaming console, computer, or phone. The Meta Quest 3S serves as an affordable alternative to the top-tier Meta Quest 3, introduced as an upgrade to the Quest 2. While they share a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset and 8GB RAM, the displays set them apart. The Quest 3S employs Fresnel lenses like those in the original Quest 2, while the Quest 3 uses pancake lenses for improved clarity and sharper visuals. Furthermore, the Quest 3S lacks a depth sensor and has a slightly narrower field of view. As a fan, I’d like to point out that if you’re in need of more storage space, you can opt for the 256GB version of the Meta Quest 3S, which is currently available on Amazon for $460 and comes with an Elite Strap. Unfortunately, the Xbox Edition doesn’t offer this configuration. On the other hand, if you prefer a device with a superior display, the standard Meta Quest 3 (almost identical in terms of specs but offers a better display) is available in a 512GB version for $500. Both versions come equipped with Touch Controllers and a 3-month subscription to Meta Horizon+.

The partnership with Meta follows announcements of ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. Like the upcoming Meta Quest 3S, these pair of portable Windows PCs provide an Xbox version of an existing product, albeit with a revamped design and distinct specifications compared to current Asus ROG Ally handhelds. The launch of the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds is scheduled for this holiday season.
