Martin Kove, who stars on the show Cobra Kai, was asked to leave a fan event because he reportedly bit his costar Alicia Hannah-Kim during a private gathering with fans.
Kove gained fame by portraying the antagonist, John Kreese, throughout the Karate Kid films and their subsequent television adaptations.
In the Karate Kid movies 1 through 3, Kreese tormented both Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. He continued this behavior in the television series Cobra Kai.
During later seasons of the Netflix series, Sensei Kreese, played by Kove, joined forces with Sensei Kim Da-Eun, portrayed by Alicia Hannah-Kim. However, this past weekend, these actors reportedly had a disagreement at a convention held in Washington.
Martin Kove allegedly “drew blood” when biting Alicia Hannah-Kim
On Sunday, the reported occurrence transpired during the Summer Con event held in Puyallup, Washington. Both actors were participating in panel discussions and attending fan activities at this gathering.
As per a police report acquired by Variety, Hannah-Kim shared with an officer in Puyallup that she lightly touched Kove’s shoulder as a greeting. However, Kove reportedly reacted abruptly by grabbing her arm forcefully and biting her so hard it came close to causing bleeding.
According to Hannah-Kim, she let out a cry due to the pain, and afterward, Kove started planting kisses on the area where he had bitten her.
Subsequently, she confronted Kove in the presence of her spouse, and, as the account states, he reportedly reacted angrily, exclaiming something akin to “who do they think they are” to question him.
According to reports, Kove is said to have told the police that the incident was just a joke. He also mentioned that they often engage in playful fighting on the Cobra Kai set.
Instead of filing charges, Hannah-Kim requested a report be submitted as a precaution if Kove’s actions persisted. As a result, the actor was instructed to depart from the venue and avoid repeating such behavior in the future.
