17-year-old Russian player Maxim ‘kyousuke’ Lukin, formerly of Team Spirit Academy, has been picked up by Falcons Esports in a transfer that some speculate cost millions. This transaction is one of the priciest buyouts ever recorded in Counter-Strike and adds to Falcons’ ongoing efforts to assemble an elite CS:2 team.
According to insider Alexey ‘OverDrive’ Biryukov, the estimated cost of the transfer to the Falcons was approximately $2 million.
Contrarily, Mossad ‘Msdossary’ Aldossary, the chairman of Falcons, disputes the claim that the purchase price was as substantial as reported.
On June 1st, Spirit temporarily sidelined Kyousuke, despite his impressive showings during academy competitions. Known for his exceptional skills, he often earns a 1.29 HLTV rating, placing him among the elite players in the scene.
kyousuke replaces magisk on Falcons
The transfer coincides with the Falcons’ broader restructuring of their roster. Emil ‘Magisk’ Reif was shifted to the bench following the BLAST Austin Major, allowing kyousuke to take his place in the starting lineup. He will team up with Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač, Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov, Damjan ‘kyxsan’ Stoilkovski, and René ‘TeSeS’ Madsen under coach Danny ‘zonic’ Sørensen.

For Team Spirit, this agreement symbolizes a significant payoff from their academy investment, while for Falcons, it’s another strategic step in their ambitious quest to rule esports. The acquisition is reportedly another costly one, with the organization investing around $2.5 million on m0NESY.
After the BLAST Major ends, it’s anticipated that we’ll see Kyousuke make his first appearance. If he maintains his current high-level performance, this significant acquisition fee could prove to be a wise investment.
