Star Wars Battlefront 2 player count explodes again after record price cut

The number of players on Steam for Star Wars Battlefront II hit record levels yet again, as the game saw a surge in popularity following its sale on Valve’s platform.

Initially launched for PC on the now-defunct EA Origin platform in 2017, the large-scale multiplayer shooter game was moved to Steam in 2020. It only reached a five-digit number of simultaneous players once, specifically in January 2021.

By the year 2025, it appears that the sequel to DICE’s series, which is based in a distant galaxy, has undergone an immense resurgence, and this growth trajectory, as of now, does not seem to be slowing down.

In May, after Disney’s Andor Season 2 ended, enthusiasts of the series swarmed to Battlefront II. This sudden surge in players led to an astonishing over 600% increase. The unexpected influx of users even caused some to encounter server problems.

Almost exactly a month later, those already impressive numbers have jumped up yet again.

Star Wars Battlefront II sale triggers giant player surge

During their yearly Summer Promotion, Steam is offering a massive 90% discount on Star Wars Battlefront II, making it available for just $3.99 for a short period.

According to Steam’s statistics, the sales period reached an unprecedented high with 35,321 players playing simultaneously, which places the game within Steam’s top 100 most popular titles.

Star Wars Battlefront II’s player count over the last 30 days was almost double that of the previous month.

Currently, the eight-year-old game is leading with more players than Destiny 2, a live-service game launched by Bungie in the same year. Furthermore, its player peak within a 24-hour period exceeded that of recently released games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

The question still lingers: Will Star Wars Battlefront II sustain its resurgence? As the game’s sales period concludes on June 26th, this is your chance to jump into the action if you want to be a part of it!
