The Blood Of Dawnwalker Gameplay Demo Shows Night And Day Vampire Powers

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the director of The Witcher 3, along with other veterans from CDPR, have unveiled an extended gameplay demonstration of their debut project at Rebel Wolves – The Blood of Dawnwalker. Earlier this year, we learned that the main character in Dawnwalker is Coen, a youth living in a medieval European nation under vampire rule. However, the video below showcases various strategies Coen employs to resist the new government, both as a vampire and as a human.

As per design director Daniel Sadowski, the side mission presented in this demo unfolds roughly halfway through the game. Character Coen has 30 days and nights to save his family, and Sadowski points out that he could attack the vampire’s castle and rescue them at any time. However, without allies or sufficient power to confront the game’s strongest vampires, such an attempt might not bode well for Coen.

During the day, Coen isn’t defenseless; in fact, he exhibits magical prowess when battling his enemies, as demonstrated in the demo. However, none of his vampire powers are accessible during daylight hours. This situation offers certain advantages, like enabling him to enter the cathedral through the main door without challenge and pose questions within. But waiting until dusk gives Coen the unique ability to scale the walls and covertly enter as an elder vampire, just when Xanthe is performing some unknown ritual.

Sadowski noted that in this game, side missions and the main plot are quite similar because players have the opportunity to mold their own stories within a 30-day timeframe. Furthermore, he suggested that it might be feasible to negotiate with Xanthe or even overcome her. However, during this particular playthrough, she proves to be too challenging for Coen.

In the year 2026, Bandai Namco plans to launch The Blood of Dawnwalker on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers.
