28 Years Later’s cast member Chi Lewis-Parry recently shared insights about his role in the horror movie’s sequel, revealing details about his character’s zombie Alpha background and explaining the necessity of wearing a prosthetic genitalia for his part.
28 Years Later serves as an outstanding follow-up, published years after the chilling original, 28 Days Later. Once more, it delves into the intriguing exploration of human conduct amidst a zombie apocalypse, this time caused by a virus known as Rage. As a fan, I can’t wait to see how humanity navigates through this harrowing scenario.
In our four-star critique titled “28 Years Later,” we expressed that this movie is a heartfelt follow-up brimming with unexpected twists and spooky moments.
One unexpected development is the emergence of enhanced zombies known as Alphas. These zombies are larger, more powerful, quicker, and more intelligent than their predecessors due to the virus functioning similarly to a steroid for them.
28 Years Later star says Alpha “sacrificed himself to protect others”
Former mixed martial artist turned actor, Chi Lewis-Parry, portrays the most dominant Alpha character in “28 Years Later.” His role is that of a ferocious and uncontrollable figure, which another character refers to as ‘Samson.’
Additionally, Lewis-Parry notes that despite the gruesome actions portrayed in the film, he perceives the character as a more heroic figure prior to his transformation.
Lewis-Parry explains to Variety that he devised a background story. He keeps a small notebook where he jotted down details to aid in visualizing the character’s motives and making him an Alpha. By having him save others, selflessly sacrificing himself to protect them, he contracted the infection. This transformation made his character seem less monstrous in Lewis-Parry’s mind.
Among the infected individuals, Sansom now holds a significant position, with the actor describing it as, “Perhaps it would be fitting to call him the ‘Ruler of the Infected,’ given my portrayal.
In a simpler manner, “He has ultimate control over all aspects, though some things may not be included. This becomes evident through his interactions with other infected individuals. Much like hyenas around a lion, they behave differently in his presence. He is the dominant one, and whatever is left is for everyone else.
Chi Lewis-Parry explains why he wore prosthetic penis in movie
In the movie, I was just like any other character, stripping down bare for all to see – that’s Samson. Now, when it came time for those full-frontal scenes, Lewis-Parry had a special prop to help maintain propriety due to our young co-star Alfie Williams. That’s the gist of it!
The actor confirms, “Indeed, those were artificial limbs.” He explains, “I believe there’s a rule that permits nudity when portraying a child, but it must be simulated. It was to safeguard him. Moreover, I’m quite affectionate and often give hugs. I wouldn’t have been doing that if I were completely exposed!
As a towering 6’8″ gamer, I’d simply nod and let my size do the talking, “No more to add on that.
