Mild spoilers below for 28 Years Later for anyone who hasn’t watched, so proceed with caution.
It’s surprising that over the opening weekend of summer, such a question has arisen: “Could any forthcoming horror films offer more scenes of hanging undead genitalia than 28 Years Later?” And here we are, with this very question posed.
More On Naked Infected

Working with the naked, infected characters from 28 Years Later felt as strange and frightening as you might imagine, and one actor had a humorous perspective on the pressure.
In a surprising turn of events, Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s highly anticipated sequel sparked much debate among viewers – here’s our take on it. As it climbed to the second spot at the box office this year, its finale, which was as wildly unpredictable as any movie in 2025, undoubtedly played a role. However, there seems to be universal agreement that the film is brimming with graphic nudity, particularly from the towering Alpha leaders of the infected, Samson and Berserker.
The duo of formidable adversaries have undergone slight behavioral advancements and are significantly physically advanced, their towering stature bringing their impressive physiques closer to human eye level. Unsurprisingly, many theater-goers who caught glimpses of the rage-filled masculinity had some amusingly candid thoughts to express about X. For instance, one such comment was as follows:
Example comment: “I never thought I’d see such a display in a play, but those actors were really committed to their roles! It made me wonder how they managed to maintain such intensity throughout the performance.
You know the old saying: one good reaction to a plump zombie dick deserves another.
In social media circles, responses similar to the one shown were commonly seen, with various interpretations indicating a strong reaction to the explicit content. However, it’s important to note that the exposed male anatomy is associated with some of the most dangerous and enraged creatures known. Yet, I’m not here to pass judgment, condemn, or act as a censor for such natural behaviors. After all, animals will be animals, and I prefer to stay neutral in these matters.
Take a look at these heartfelt reactions to the most provocative menaces in “28 Years Later”.
Both options aim to maintain the original’s informal yet respectful tone, while making it easier for a first-person supporter to convey.
- You are not prepared for the sheer volume of penis #28YearsLater is packing – @DavidOpie
- You’ll either love or hate 28 Years Later. Side note. Why did they build the alphas like… that? – @miicheladapapi
- So many self-proclaimed “Alphas” are gonna go home feeling insecure, after watching 28 YEARS LATER 😂 – @Sye_Lokata
- i see why they called him Alpha #28YearsLater – @cherryrckcndy
- 28 Years Later was fucking great and all but why was that alpha so damn hung omg just slinging that thing around chasin people – @lovedawoon
- Does anyone know why the Alpha zombie has two credits in 28 Years Later? – @bradmiska
Regarding the reason behind it, I suppose the lack of diverse organic options may have been considered when designing the Alpha characters, who are brainless and naked. Given that not everyone can embody an unusual character like Ralph Fiennes’ with his glowing orange persona, a powerful symbol like Big Dick Energy seems to be the most appropriate choice for visual distinction among their monstrous counterparts.
As a film enthusiast, I must acknowledge an intriguing two-part response that initially seems intellectual before taking a more unconventional turn. The Alpha dongs’ responses, unlike most, veered away from the usual gut reactions, offering a unique blend of sophistication and relatability.
- not at all what i expected. and just when i thought i had it figured it out, it swerved again. not mad at it, though. #28YearsLater was visually stunning, gripping, and unexpected. …[second post]…ALSO we all saw what that alpha was workin’ with right??? 👀😳 – @meganxmarie
It only makes sense for the final reaction here to be the one seen below.
If the Samson Alpha had been named “Nathan,” it could have come dangerously close to sounding like a type of hot dog, leading to unwanted comparisons.
Danny Boyle Confirms 28 Years Later’s Alpha Penises And More Were All Prosthetic
It seems unlikely that the actors who played the Alphas in the movie “28 Years Later”, specifically Chi Lewis-Parry and Chris Gregory, experienced negative impacts on their social lives due to their roles. To clarify why there were so many nude scenes featuring talented young actor Alfie Williams and others, director Danny Boyle explained to ComicBook.com that the nude infected characters in the film are not truly naked. In his own words:
In this scenario, our intimacy coordinator ensured that all genital depictions were fake and not real, especially when a 12-year-old child was present. This is due to the Child Sex Offenses Act, which would penalize anyone who allows a minor to see real genitals. Thus, Alfie will be shown only photorealistic prosthetic genitals, crafted by a professional prosthetics company. [Laughs are omitted for clarity.]
Pay tribute to all individuals, regardless of gender, who may now view things differently following the revelation that the Alphas’ male members were artificially made rather than naturally grown. It might be possible to interpret this as a concealment of even larger genitalia within the prosthetics, though I doubt the upcoming “Bone Temple” sequel in 2026 will offer any clarification on that matter.
28 Years Later is now playing in cinemas, and I’m confident that a petition exists somewhere for a lifelike Alpha action figure.
