Users of Nintendo Switch 2 can choose from two official ways to charge the new Joy-Con 2 Controllers for wireless gaming. By default, you can connect the console with the controllers attached, then remove them when switching to TV mode, either by using the grip or turning them sideways for single controller play. Alternatively, for an additional $40, you can replace the standard grip with a Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip that allows simultaneous charging of both right and left controllers while playing. However, if you have extra Joy-Con 2 Controllers for local multiplayer, you’ll need to buy two Charging Grips or take turns charging each pair since only one set can be charged at a time.
While Nintendo and its partners haven’t officially launched charging docks for the anticipated Joy-Con 2 Controllers yet, there’s a plethora of unofficial charging docks available on platforms like Amazon right now. These include multi-controller charging stations that can handle four or more Joy-Con 2 controllers simultaneously. Notably, some manufacturers who produce these Joy-Con 2 chargers have previously created well-regarded chargers for the original Joy-Cons, PS5 DualSense, and Xbox Wireless Controllers as well.

Note: The chargers for controllers displayed above or mentioned below are not endorsed by any official licensing body. Although these brands have a reputation for quality, there’s a minor chance they may not function as expected or cause damage to your controllers. It’s worth noting that unofficial controller chargers for various platforms, including the original Switch, usually work well without causing harm. However, since they lack the official Nintendo seal of approval, using them comes with the understanding that you assume all risks. If you prefer a safer option, consider the Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip. This officially approved grip features built-in back buttons and can charge while in use through a detachable USB-C cable.
Among the non-official accessories, the Mumba Charging Dock has been the top seller on Amazon since the launch of Switch 2 this month. In the past month alone, it’s sold more than 1,000 units and received positive feedback from customers. With a space-saving design that can hold and charge up to four Joy-Con 2 controllers, it’s an affordable option priced at just $20. It also includes RGB lights and protection against overcharging as added features.
Two popular choices from Fastsnail boast excellent user feedback and are high-selling items. One option is a $15 standard docking station designed for four Joy-Con 2 Controllers, while another versatile model offers slots compatible with both Switch 2 and original Switch Joy-Con Controllers (an 8-in-1 solution). Unlike the usual upright position, these controllers are positioned horizontally, similar to a mouse mode.
For several years, NexiGo has created many well-liked console controller chargers, and their latest pair are designed for the Switch 2. The traditional NexiGo docking station for Switch 2 is currently on sale at Amazon with a limited-time discount of $3 off, bringing it to $22 (originally priced at $25). This dock features magnetic connections that securely hold your Joy-Con 2 in place as they charge. LED lights signal when they’re ready for use, and safety measures such as overvoltage and overcurrent protection should safeguard your controllers, even though this is an unofficial product. Additionally, NexiGo offers a model designed for four controllers that shares similarities with Fastsnail’s 8-in-1 version.
