Minecraft Lodestones Guide – How To Craft And Use Lodestones

As a devoted Minecraft enthusiast, I can’t help but sing praises for one indispensable item that makes my gaming experience a breeze – the compass! Crafting this handy tool is like having an invisible GPS, guiding me back to my world’s starting point whenever I get lost during my thrilling survival game escapades. It’s a lifesaver in every sense of the word!

Compasses won’t be useful for navigating if your base isn’t close to the game’s starting point, also known as the world spawn point. While you can modify the spawn point using Minecraft console commands if you’re a server owner or have admin privileges, those options may not be available to everyone. In such cases, it would be beneficial to learn about lodestones, which can change the direction that a compass points towards. That is exactly what we can help with!

Lodestones change where a compass indicates. They function not just in the overworld, but also in the Nether and the End, unlike compasses which typically only work in the overworld. In our world, lodestones are naturally occurring magnets that are quite scarce to come by.

How to find a lodestone

Lodestones can be found in chests within ruins of bastions, or you can make your own. To craft one, arrange an iron ingot at the center of your crafting table and surround it with chiseled stone bricks. In the past, crafting a lodestone was costlier because instead of one iron ingot, a netherite ingot was needed for the process.

How to use a lodestone

After obtaining your lodestone block, set it down in the location you desire for your compass to align with. Then, retrieve your compass and activate it upon the block. If the compass acquires a similar glow as enchanted armor does, you’ll know that the process has been successful.

If the lodestone is damaged or exists in a different realm than the compass, the compass may spin aimlessly. If the lodestone gets destroyed and its paired compass is stowed away, it won’t realize the lodestone has been destroyed until it’s taken out again. Putting the lodestone back in its original location can prevent any unpairing problems that might arise under these circumstances.
