Despite frequently acknowledging Bravo’s editors, it seems they don’t receive the recognition they truly deserve. If they were granted a lifetime supply of free meals and unlimited access to oral services, it wouldn’t be enough to express our gratitude. In this particular episode, I found both the opening recap and the closing segment exceptionally noteworthy. The editors skilfully guided us through a post-lunch conversation between Adriana, Guerdy, and Lisa. Not only did we revisit the conflicts from Lisa’s party in the previous episode, but we also caught a sneak peek of Lisa planning to walk in a Milan fashion show. As an added treat, Adriana mentioned that her French boyfriend was smitten with her, which might explain her youthful appearance. The introduction was nothing short of perfect (and the personal conversation added an extra touch).
At the close of the show, instead of the typical “Preview for the next episode of The Real Housewives of Miami,” we are presented with a title card informing us that even as the cameras stopped rolling after the fashion show, tensions between Larsa, Lisa, and Jody continued to escalate. A few days later, we join the group during a dinner setting where Larsa accuses Jody of losing his temper towards both her and Lisa. She also shares an image of Jody with eyes wide open, mimicking Ramona Singer’s expression during New York Fashion Weekend, suggesting that he was relishing the cool air in Milan much like he did at his birthday party in Miami from the previous episode. This brings to mind instances where figures such as James Kennedy and Jax Taylor seemed to enjoy the camera for prolonged periods, while others were always captivated by the “pasta” on screen over the years.
Jody’s photo aside, which suggests skiing, this preview stands out as superior to some deceptive snippets from various scenes. It immerses us in the current situation and guides us towards the story’s progression. This gives us a glimpse into the upcoming episode, the rest of the season, as well as the intricacies of Lisa’s relationship with Larsa. In essence, it’s a brilliant move that keeps the Housewives series thriving for nearly two decades. It continually improves, perfects, and evolves while maintaining its delightful consistency.
Before diving into the escalating feud between Lisa and Larsa in Miami, let’s rewind and see what transpired earlier. Guerdy decided to consult a doctor regarding another breast reconstruction surgery despite her loving husband Russell’s preference for her to halt further surgeries. Guerdy candidly expresses feelings of not being sexually attractive and normal following her battle with breast cancer, making it courageous for her to expose her chest on cable television and its streaming platform. Additionally, we learned a bit more about the strained relationship between Julia and Guerdy – how Julia invited Guerdy as her plus-one on a cruise, only for Guerdy to make it all about herself. There will likely be future episodes that delve deeper into this issue.
The focus point in Miami’s recent events revolves around Alexia’s potential divorce from Todd, along with Rudy Giuliani’s attempt to sell a counterfeit Rolex to cover his legal expenses. As I mentioned following the previous installment, this situation promises to be difficult to bear. Alexia’s longtime friend Jonny, who has resided in Madrid for a year, is back in town, prompting Alexia to arrange a dinner with him, several of his gay friends, and Julia, Marysol, and Kiki at a restaurant featuring a vibrant, shimmering dress that the camera struggled to capture due to its brilliance. (It seems Kiki has an impeccable sense of style, as shown in these past two episodes.)
Alexia shares with the team that Todd filed for divorce months ago, but there has been no progress on the case. The judge has granted him 30 days to finalize or dismiss it entirely. Alexia expresses that the ball is in his court, but Jonny and those gathered at the table encourage her to take charge as well, suggesting she should free herself from this man who resembles a dangling sack.
Later on, Alexia reveals the reason Todd seems eager to end their marriage. Contrary to our assumptions about financial troubles, it’s something far more ordinary: Todd has grown disenchanted with the show. Initially, he enjoyed the audience’s support, but things changed when we ridiculed him for his apology to Anthony last year, making him appear awkward. Alexia mentions that she proposed quitting the show to appease him, but he felt it was too late already.
As a cinephile, what truly bothers me when Alexia mentions, “I’m coming to terms with the fact he doesn’t appreciate the show; he doesn’t like the influence it gives me.” It’s understandable why Todd can’t regulate content and the storyline portrayal. Frankly, most of us wouldn’t consider joining a reality show because footage is subject to editing, alteration, and manipulation in numerous ways. That part I get. However, what truly sickens me is that Todd isn’t comfortable with Alexia garnering more fame than him. It’s high time she moves on from this man. Alexia doesn’t require a man who’s on the verge of dying to be on the show; she needs one who appreciates her, celebrates her triumphs, regardless of their nature. She needs a man self-assured enough to revel in the admiration of wine-soaked girls and gay fans when they stop her for a selfie during a casual shopping trip at the mall (you know who you are). Ultimately, she needs a man who’s thrilled that the world can share the amazing woman he adores, appreciating all the wonderful qualities about her that he cherishes.
It’s clear that Todd isn’t the man in question. Marysol, a close confidante of Alexia both on-screen and off-, strongly supports this view. To me, this is the most compelling evidence against Todd. During a dinner with her husband Steve, whom she has tied the knot with not once but twice (I must admit, I’m puzzled too), she expresses that the Alexia who is with Todd isn’t the best version of Alexia and that he often belittles her, which makes her feel agitated and protective.
At the table, there’s a shared sense of dissatisfaction towards Todd as Alexia voices her displeasure. The women and the LGBTQ+ group side with her, advising her to cut ties with this self-centered man. Julia suggests an extreme measure, imagining Todd packing up his belongings in front of Frankie, leaving him alone on the couch as if he’s invisible. Everyone agrees that being married to such a person is unappealing. Jonny, in an attempt to reason with Alexia, asks, “See how this makes you feel? Why stay for it?” They all agree she shouldn’t, but unfortunately, they know that their words and actions didn’t sway her. The dinner table conversation was just a momentary reflection of their feelings, as Alexia ultimately chose to reconcile with Todd, much like finding a scratched lottery ticket on the ground and hoping it might still be a winner, only to discover it wasn’t. Such tickets rarely ever are.
Regarding their ongoing argument, Larsa and Lisa plan to carry on their disagreement in Milan, a situation where neither seems correct, and it’s unclear what they’re actually upset about. It’s almost like a game of who can be stubbornly incorrect for the longest, as they both seem determined to maintain their positions. Interestingly, they are both heading to Milan for the Philip Plein fashion show. Lisa is modeling, while Larsa’s son, Preston, will make his runway debut. Have you heard of Philip Plein? He’s often compared to Ed Hardy and known for his expensive, ostentatious jewelry designs that some find tacky.
As it transpired, both Lisa and Jody were on the same flight to Milan, yet neither acknowledged each other’s presence. This situation becomes impossible when a fashion brand assigns only one shared car for their travel group, including companions. The tension between them remains unresolved. It seems that Lisa and Jody are upset with Larsa for being unkind at Jody’s birthday celebration. On the other hand, Larsa is displeased because Jody spent time with her ex-boyfriend, Marcus, after their breakup, despite receiving menacing text messages from him.
Although I can see where Larsa’s perspective comes from, I’m puzzled as to why Lisa and Jody are insisting on their stance. Had they been unaware of Marcus’ mistreatment towards Larsa or his threats, a simple apology like “We didn’t realize the situation; we won’t see him again” would have sufficed. However, it seems they either aren’t aware or choose not to be, for some unknown reason. Their argument appears to revolve around a minor discrepancy – Lisa chose not to socialize with Marcus while Jody did. It’s possible that Marcus prepared an exceptional meal for Jody in his air-conditioned apartment.
When Lisa mentions her preoccupation with her father’s health, as he is ill and could pass away at any moment, Larsa instead of expressing empathy replies, “Then why did you come?” I understand the reasoning behind Larsa’s statement – family should always come first, especially in times of crisis. However, it’s not an appropriate response to make when one is already en route to a fashion show with her. In this situation, Larsa seems to be losing ground despite initially having a strong argument.
Following the fashion show, a lavish gathering ensued for the brand, where Lisa and Larsa resumed their conversation, possibly due to lack of other acquaintances at an Italian fashion event. Their chat was interrupted unexpectedly by rapper Fabolous who inquired about the Real Housewives. He appeared intrigued and wanted to stir things up a bit. Larsa accused Lisa of being unfaithful, while Lisa claimed that Larsa had called her a “bitch” and her boyfriend “cheap” at his house. Fabolous seemed to side with Lisa, and then Larsa mentioned that Lisa was socializing with her ex. Upon hearing this, Fabolous expressed his disapproval and inquired if it were true. Lisa denied the allegation, stating her boyfriend was the one involved. Fabolous then approved, “That’s not her, though.” He provided some insightful advice: “To resolve issues, don’t associate with her ex, and she won’t disrespect you.
Indeed, it’s quite simple for someone to reconsider their stance in a heated argument, apologize, and promise not to repeat the mistake. It turns out that Fabolous is our unforeseen mediator of the present. Could he also intervene in the conflicts between Teresa and Melissa? Perhaps he could even manage disputes involving Angie K. and Lisa Barlow. If given the opportunity, let him moderate the reunion for The Valley. The preview suggests that the peace might be fragile and temporary, which seems to be due to Jody’s actions. As the episode concludes, Lisa is left puzzled about Jody’s whereabouts. She scans the crowd at this Italian fashion party, searching for his distinctive haircut amidst the attendees. Could he be smoking cigarettes with Preston outside? Maybe he’s flirting with a model? Or perhaps he’s negotiating to import Bugattis to America? (Given the current economic climate and tariffs?) She checks her phone, scans the crowd, and repeatedly checks her phone again. However, Jody is nowhere to be found, leaving her only with the company of a friend she had previously dismissed, now realizing that friends are more essential than ever in this challenging time.
